Every girl should have a guy best friend at least once in their life. Luckily for me, the past five years I have had the greatest one around. Here are some reasons that make having a guy best friend so awesome.
1. He doesn't sugar coat anything.
I couldn't even count the million times I have gone to mine for advice. He tells what I need to hear, not just what I want to hear. Sometimes it is frustrating, but I know he does it to help.
2. He's the brother I've never wanted and more.
I already have two older brothers that have pestered me my whole life, at least with this one I am not forced to always be nice.
3. People think we're dating.
OK, so this one always isn't the most awesome thing ever. But sometimes when a creepy guy comes around or I want someone off my case, it's easy to just have him around because it looks like we're dating at some times.
4. You have a friendship no one will ever understand.
"Why are you guys so close?" I don't know, why is the sky blue? We just are. It's nice when people don't understand how our friendship works because we don't ever have to explain it.
5. He's a part of the family.
My whole family loves him. I think my nieces like him more than I do. He calls my mom and grandma, "mom and grandma." He's invited on family outings and holidays. I think my mom just considers him one of her kids now.
6. You don't fight.
We are both very hard-headed people set in our ways, so occasionally we butt heads and have to step away from each other, but that's OK having space from someone is healthy.
7. No matter what, they will always be there.
We have gone through our times where we just have to step away from each other but the minute we're back at it again it's like nothing has changed.
8. You get to be an ultimate wing woman.
When he likes a new girl, I can't help but to be happy that he is happy. But in my eyes, no girl will be good enough for him because of his self-worth.
9. He handles me and I am a lot to handle.
I'm all over the place, but no matter what, he always understands me.
10. He sees me for who I am.
His friends may know me as "the girl with the big chest" but he knows I am more than just an object.
11. He's a designated cuddler.
Pshhh. Who needs a boyfriend when your best friend is an awesome cuddler?
12. He pretends to care.
Even when I'm rambling on about my music and guys in bands, he sits there and sounds interested even though I know he thinks I'm crazy.
13. He gives me insight that one of my girl friends can't.
Yeah, I have my girl friends that rock, but let's be real girls tend to over think situations. Guys are more open-minded and can show you a side you would have never thought of, even though I still probably won't listen to him.
14. He's the best person to hang out with.
We don't even need to be doing anything exciting. We could just be getting tacos but it always is a big adventure.
15. No matter what, I know I'll get married some day.
Even if I don't find a guy that can handle the hot mess that I am, I know that he can. He will be an awesome husband when we turn 35.
Overall, friendships are awesome. But knowing that there is a guy around that doesn't just see you as another conquest and values you as a person is so refreshing. Thanks for being the Lucas to my Haley (even though you will never get the reference), I adore you more than you will ever know.
