Why Having a Best Friend is the Best as Explained by Parks and Recreation

For the last 3 ears of college, I have lived with my best friend and we have seen the best and worst of each other but yet somehow we still seem to like one another. We've been friends since middle school and when we decided to make the great leap of rooming together in college everyone doubted us. They just knew that we'd get sick of one another but I can proudly say to all the neigh sayers that we're still rooming together and we don't hate each other. Are there times where we want to smack one another, probably, but I wouldn't trade that for anything. So I just want to give you some reasons as to why having a best friend is the best.

1. You always have someone to encourage you

Whether it be for a big job interview or going on first date, your best friend will always be one text away from encouraging you. The real world is scary and someone has to give you the courage to continue forward.

2. They also encourage you to "Treat Yo Self!"

Think of a cute shirt that is just screaming for you to buy but you know you don't need it. Well, sometimes times you deserve to do something nice for yourself and that's why your bestie is there to remind you that you can go ahead and Treat. Yo. Self!

3.You Love to embarrass Each Other

Need I say more?

4. They'll be there for you during breakups

Significant others may be temporary, but who will always be there to pick you up off your butt and then share a gallon of ice cream with you while talking about why your ex is just the worst for hours? Your best friend obviously. Best friends will always come first and be there for you even in the worst of times.

5.You can relate about hating to mingle with people

Why mingle when you can just hang out with each other and other close friends? People are the worst.

6. They'll try their best to understand your obsessions

The love for Lord of the Rings that your bestie doesn't really get but will sit and listen to you rant about why Peter Jackson ruined the Hobbit. They don't really care and you know that but yet you continue on the rant.

7. You'll always have someone to eat breakfast with

It does not matter what hour of the day it is, for the two of you, breakfast is always a necessity. Whether it be early in the morning or late into the evening hours, breakfast is a must.

8. People will think you're idiots

When you are a part you may seem like normal members of society but when you are together there's no guessing what you'll do. People will be a little freaked out and will definitely think you're idiots.

9. Many will question your sanity

This goes with number 8 as well.

10. They are the Postive Polly to your Negative Nancy

Someone has to cheer you up and when your channeling Ron Swanson.

11. Your guaranteed to have someone to party with

You will be guaranteed to have someone to party with without judgment.

12. They will be very involved with your life

They know you better than you know yourself and they're going to keep it that way. They will be right there with you giving advice whether you want it or not. They will have a say in your personal life outside of your friendship. It may sound awful but trust me you'll thank them later and question why you did listen to them sooner.

13. They'll be your backup against the idiots of the world

Because let's be honest, people are just dumb and with your best friend, you can conquer them all.

14. They're probably one of the few people who actually like the real you

And when I say this I mean, the real you. Not the you that people see in public but the obnoxious, angsty, or just plain weird you. If people knew the real me I'm not sure I'd have many friends but that's the great part about having someone who just gets you and there's no issue about covering up the bitter old soul you may be.

15. No What What You'll Always Have Each Other

Eventually, you must go your own way but you'll never forget all of the great memories you made together and no matter how far away you move from each other you'll know they will be there for you in a heartbeat. I myself am so grateful to have spent so much time with my best friend because not everyone is lucky enough to meet someone and be friends with them for years. You'd think we'd get sick of each other but for whatever reason, we're still friends. Maybe it's because no one can handle our weirdness.

So there you have it. These were just a few reasons as to why having a best friend is, well, the best. So continue on and be the ass kick duo that you are.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
