Hate Crimes And Donald Trump

What is going to happen to minorities once Trump gets elected?

Hate Crimes And Donald Trump

I probably promised myself a couple of million times that I would not write only to express hatred toward Donald Trump, or to explain one of the many reasons why he should not be president of our country. However, the mind sometimes works on its own.

I decided that perhaps I could give it one more shot, only because I believe it necessary and as it is his, I also have the right to express myself freely.

The question that doesn't leave my mind is: Why do we want a president that reinforces discrimination, which strengthens hate? How is that a positive thing?

Sometimes it seems that people forget the horrors of the past as a result of what hate can do to people. Well, Trump is bringing it back in each of his speeches—against women, immigrants (Hispanics, to be more precise) and minorities overall.

Why would we want a leader that condones hate; that tries expanding it through people each and every single day? I am sorry, but I just do not want that.

I do not want to be targeted by other people because of my race or my religion, nor do I want my friends and family,or just anybody to be. I want to be able to walk without any fear or worry. I do not want to get segregated.

When Trump becomes president, he is going to enforce his biased viewpoints. Why should we allow that? Why should go back in time when minorities used to hide in the shadows when they were physically and emotionally hurt, or even killed and nobody cared?

I do not want to stand for that. I do not want to be a hate crime waiting to happen. Even if unrelated, the Orlando massacre shows what hate can do and where it can take. Innocent people getting murdered because of somebody's extremist beliefs. It happened in the past; it is going on now, and it will occur in the future as soon as Donald Trump is elected.

As I said before, it is his right to express his beliefs all he wants, but is is also right for the people to choose to disagree with those views. It is time to understand that a nation is not going to get better if there are no particular people in them. It is time to figure out that "Making America Great Again" does not consist of building a wall and kicking out hard-working people or taking away American-born children their citizenship.

America will only be great when there is no more hate and discrimination when acceptance indeed becomes a reality. America will be great again: when the nation doesn't choose revenge when the country doesn't want Trump.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
