It's that time of year again, folks. The new year is getting closer and closer everyday, and with that so are the infamous New Year's resolutions. #NewYearNewMe is just days away from flooding our social media feeds...
Who even came up with the idea of New Year's resolutions? After all, are any of us ever really happy with them? This year, rather than giving up soda or losing ten pounds, I propose that we make our New Year's resolutions to simply be happy, and this is how I plan to achieve it.
Here are six New Year's resolutions to make, and actually keep, in 2016.
Declutter your baggage.
This is both metaphorical and literal. Nothing starts a new beginning like a good detox. Pack up the junk that's no longer useful, and throw it away.
Prioritize.
Time to reflect on your decisions. Maybe you should be working harder. Maybe you're working too hard. Time to get the priorities in line for the start of the best year yet.
Save money.
It's hard. Being an adult is EXPENSIVE, but it's a lot less stressful knowing you've got a full bank account.
Do something for yourself.
Do something to spoil yourself. Maybe that's going on short vacation, picking up a new hobby, or even just giving yourself extra days off. You deserve it.
Put your health first.
Maybe you want to start hitting the gym more. For me, this is a sleep issue. Putting your health first is one of the first steps to getting your sanity back. You'll need that.
Cut yourself some slack and give yourself more credit.
We have got to quit being so hard on ourselves! You feel like you can't do it all when in reality you're doing just fine. Being imperfect is part of being human. It's expected. Remind yourself of that more often.
