Most of my life I've been classified as an outgoing, extroverted person. While this totally makes sense to me, I've always kind of disagreed. Often times I'd feel ashamed of wanting to stay in most weekends because I thought it would downplay my extrovert reputation. I'd get tons of compliments from introverts telling me they wish they could be more outgoing like me, which to me honestly is a blessing and a curse. Eventually, I came to realize that I'm not an extrovert or an introvert. I'm an outgoing introvert, and I am perfectly okay with that. If the list that follow resonates well with you, chances are you're an outgoing introvert, too!
1. You're unsure of whether or not you're an introvert or extrovert

2. Is your friend group really a reflection of you?
When you actually sit down and think about it, you are kind-of-friends with everybody. You have the ability to connect with people on many different levels. Not one person can connect with you on every level, hence your ability to get along with many different kinds of people. I have friends who literally run trap houses and I have friends that sit down and have hour long conversations about faith and how much we love Jesus. Some of my friends enjoy country music and line dancing while other friends like rap music. Some of my friends are in support of Trump (strong sigh and inaudible thoughts) and some of my friends are really feeling the Bern. I mean honestly, everything in moderation definitely applies to my friend group. My friends aren't a true reflection of who I am, rather a reflection of my ability to be well rounded and connect on different levels. If you can relate to this, go you! Don't be ashamed, you're just incredibly friendly and enjoy different perspectives.
3. Energy & Environment go hand in hand
When in social settings, the overall vibe of the environment will make or break your energy level. You're good at making the most of things, but for you to truly have a genuine and enjoyable time, everything has to fall into place. The music has to be just right, the people have to be the right people, the mood has to be set and you have to feel comfortable and at ease. If the environment is stressful then you'll have a hard time opening up and truly expressing yourself. You feed off of people's energy so if they're giving you something to work with, you're bound to have a good time.
4. You need to recharge at some point

5. You're often mistaken as a full-blown extrovert
Most people catch you in a social setting where you are carefree and making the most of life. You are easy to talk to and people are comfortable around you. You enjoy dancing and don't really care about people's opinions of you because, well, you are having fun. While this is definitely you, it is only a part of you. Most people don't get the chance to see you in your quiet environment so it makes sense that they automatically equate you to an extrovert.
6. Yes, you do indeed enjoy the life of the party
After recharging your social battery, it's go time. The mood is set and your favorite songs are on and you just cannot resist. You're in a carefree mood and are ready to make the most out of the night. Drunk or not, your energy level is spiked and that smile on your face is everlasting.
7. You often enjoy peaceful introspection and reflection
You actually really enjoy introspection and reflection on the deeper meaning of your life. Being social doesn't always look like partying and bonfires. Sometimes being social is you conversing with one or two people on an issue or you giving insight on how to act in certain situations. People sometimes find you highly insightful. They tend to gravitate towards you when in need of advice. You love authentic and deep conversations and are fairly exceptional at getting into people's heads. While you can be fairly wild and scatter-brained, you can also be very analytical.
8. Plans getting cancelled don't really phase you
While you're really good at making it a point to hang out with friends, it also really doesn't bother you much to stay in. Oftentimes you secretly don't want to go out and are praying someone cancels the plans so you don't have to. When everyone is upset that plans didn't fall through, you usually are happier because of it and are ready to hop into your pajamas and call it a night.
9. At the end of the day, you're awesome!
I mean, honestly, outgoing introverts are awesome. If you're reading this and are not an outgoing introvert, I strongly recommend making friends with one. Some days you're ready to throw yourself into a dance battle and other days you want to gather with a few friends and discuss whether or not science and religion work together or against each other. At the end of the day, you really do get along with everyone and you should be okay with that. No need to rationalize wanting to go out or stay in because both work!
