Halloween is always an exciting time of the year, a chance to let loose and get a little crazy. Whether you're looking for something silly, scary, or just plain entertaining, there are lots of options without leaving home. Here are some of Bellingham's best Halloween events.

Thrillingham

Come witness local Bellinghamsters transform into zombies and dance it out to Michael Jackson's "Thriller." You won't want to miss this Bellingham classic happening Oct 31 from 8-9 p.m. in Marine Heritage Park. More info.

Hellingham

Hellingham is a live improv murder mystery happening at the one and only Upfront Theatre, owned by improv master Ryan Stiles and located right downtown on Bay Street. This event is a hilarious show in which performers randomly draw characters and the audience tries to guess the killer as three characters are taken out. Catch the show at 8 p.m. or 10 p.m. on Oct 30 and 31. The Upfront is also sending its main stage ensemble into a haunted house on Oct 29 at 10 p.m. More info.

"Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Let's do the time warp again! Mt. Baker Theatre brings you this fun, outrageous, sexy show featuring a live shadowcast performing in front of the classic cult film. Don't miss this show performing Oct 29-31, with shows at 8 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. in the Mt. Baker's Walton Theatre. Tickets sell fast, so pick up yours today on the MBT's website!

Zombie Asylum Haunted House

Venture into Spookshop's fun and terrifying zombie-themed haunted house at the old Billy McHale's. The haunted house is open 6 p.m.—10 p.m. until the 29, 6 p.m.—11 p.m. on the 30, and opens 2 p.m. on Halloween for a special Scooby Doo tour for the kids, and finally wraps up with their Halloween special at 1 p.m. Check out their Facebook page here

"Frankenstein"

Stop by the Pickford Theatre downtown and catch National Theatre Live's broadcast of "Frankenstein." Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternate as the monster and the creator. See this acclaimed show on Oct 27 at 8 p.m. or Oct 31 at 4 p.m. Tickets available online.

Tell a Tale of Halloween

Looking for a family-friendly Halloween event? Look no further than Whatcom Museum's fun family event, featuring book exhibitions, spooky stories, crafts and face-painting. The event runs 10 a.m.—4 p.m. on Oct 31 in the Lightcatcher Building. More info here

Creepy Cabaret

This year marks Bellingham High School's 5th annual Creepy Cabaret, featuring good food, a silent auction, and performances from students. The show happens Oct 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bellingham High School Commons. Tickets are $10 at the door, and support the BHS choir.

Extremely Scary Stories

Visit the Fairhaven Library Halloween night for some creepy Halloween tales presented by the Bellingham Storyteller's Guild. This a free event starting at 7:00 p.m. Check the Guild's website.

The Nightmare on Railroad

Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth (BAAY) and Boundary Bay Brewery team bring you a haunted house and performance featuring BAAY performers. Stop by Boundary Bay Brewery at 6:30 p.m. for the all-ages show, or 9:30 p.m. for the 21+ show. Find the Facebook event here

Trick or Treating

If you're up for some good old-fashioned trick or treating, Bellingham offers some great options. The Downtown Bellingham Sponsorship is holding a trick or treating event featuring over 100 merchants in downtown Bellingham 3-5 p.m. on Oct 30. Fairhaven has their own trick or treating event on the 31st from 3-6 p.m.
