The Cutest Halloween Couples Costumes For You AND Your Dog

Halloween is soon approaching, which means it's time to procrastinate finding the best costume until the night before.

If you think the amount of time and effort that goes into planning couples and group costumes is absurd, then take the easy way out and bring your dog as your date. Whatever your plans may be for the night, you are guaranteed to get more candy if you have a cute dog by your side!

1. Barista & Puppy Spice Latte

Slip on a green apron and get crafty with brown fabric and your old Starbuck's cup. This is one of the easiest costumes to DIY because all you need are scissors, glue, and Velcro strips to fashion the "latte sleeve" around your dog. So clever yet so easy, this costume allows you to put in minimal effort and get maximum compliments.

2. Role Reversal

This Halloween swap places with your pet. Purchase a shirt for your dog at your local pet store, and then head over to Party City to buy a dog onesie for yourself. This role reversal is so ironic and super funny. As long as you are able to drive around town, this costume can be thrown together the day of Halloween.

3. Beauty and The Beast

This adorable take on the classic Disney movie requires a little more effort, but is sure to impress. You can either buy a legit costume from a store, or DIY your own with a small blue cape for your dog and a yellow dress and crown for you. Your dog will definitely put the beast in Beauty and the Beast, truly bringing this Disney tale to life!

4. Kangaroo and a Joey

This costume definitely involves a trip to Party City or a search on Amazon. Once you get this onesie, it is so easy to put on and throw your dog into. If you choose to rock this costume, you win Halloween this year because you will be keeping warm and looking cute.

5. Kid with their Ty Beanie Baby

By far the easiest costume on this list, you most likely have all you need to put this look together. Just throw on a graphic tee and jeans, and print out the Ty Beanie Baby Heart tag to attach to your dog's collar. Relive your childhood as you hold your dog and pretend you are holding your favorite Beanie Baby. This costume is great because it looks like you put effort in when all you really did was throw on an outfit and give your dog a tag.

6. Fashionista and her Designer Bag

This is another simple yet clever costume idea. Wearing any cute outfit of your choice, use an appropriately sized plain white tote bag to DIY your dog's costume. This costume works best with small dogs because they can fit comfortably in the bag. All you have to do is cut holes out for their paws and slap on the logo of your favorite designer. When walking around, be sure to actually hold your dog and not just pick up the handles of the tote when flaunting around your "new" designer bag.

7. Majestic Princess & Unicorn Duo

This fantasy classic combo is sure to please. You can go as extra or as laid back as you wish with this versatile costume idea. As long as your dog is willing to put up with wearing a unicorn horn, then you have yourself another dynamic duo costume to wear with your dog on Halloween.

8. Surfer And Shark

Bring back Summer with this surfer and shark costume. Slip into a wetsuit and purchase a shark costume or even just an attachable fin for your dog. This easy to wear look is a great option for Halloween this year because it is both simple and comfortable.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
