13 Halloween Costumes You Don't Want to See AGAIN This Halloweekend

Yes, that's me in the cop costume.

As the wise movie Mean Girls once set straight, "in girl world, Halloween is the one night a year where girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it."

Although yes, that statement is quite problematic in that slut shaming is terrible, regardless and I'm a huge proponent for body positivity, it is true in one thing. This Halloween as long as you're comfortable in your costume, it makes you feel good, and you're not offending anybody -- wear it.

That being said, I can't be the only one who wants to see some originality in costumes this upcoming Halloweekend. Girls especially tend to lean towards these select few of costumes, which I find quite humorous, in that I do it too, as you can tell from the title photo. Yes, that's me in the cop costume. But just for the fun of it, here's a few costumes I don't think anyone really wants to see again due to how many times they've been worn.

1. Rosie the Riveter

2. Cats, or really any animal with whiskers and ears.

3. Police

4. School girl

5. Alien

6. Reindeer

Just had to say, oh deer.

7. Characters from The Purge

8. Angel and Devil

9. Alvin and the Chipmunks

10. Boxer

11. Loofah

12. Anything with a big t-shirt covering your pants.

13. Anything with cultural appropriation.

Although with every other option, really take this article with a grain of salt -- I’m purely poking fun at the basic costumes most college girls lean towards (as I mentioned I’m guilty of more than a few of these). However, this one is anything but a joke. If you’re dressing as a race, ethnicity, cultural group, or anything that even remotely touches cultural appropriation, please think again. People will be offended, hurt, and while Halloween should be a fun holiday you need to always be respectful. Prancing around in someone else’s culture because you think dressing as a Native American is “cute”, it’s not.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
