Haircuts are often monumental moments in any girl’s life. For some, they can even be very stressful, emotional times. However, not everyone fears scissors and losing a little—(or a lot)—of hair. For those girls, it seems as though the people around you have more of a connection to your hair than you do, and it can be kind of annoying. If that sounds like you, then there are probably a ton of things that you are simply tired of hearing since cutting your hair.
For example: “Oh, wow! Did you cut your hair?”
No! My hair just was just magically sucked back into my hair follicles (which sounds really gross). But come on, I think it's pretty obvious that I cut my hair. Thanks for noticing though.
Or even better: “I can’t believe you cut your hair. How did you find the courage to do it?”
Well, I sat in the stylist’s chair and…that was it. Although, most people think it takes a ton of guts to cut your hair (which it may for some), the process is actually pretty simple when you put some thought into it. Impulsive haircuts aren’t as frequent as you think, and they obviously don’t end very well most of the time.
My personal favorite is: “WHY WOULD YOU CUT YOUR HAIR!? IT WAS SO PRETTY BEFORE!”
Did my hair somehow become unappealing just by being a shorter? If so, who cares as long as I like it, right?
“It’s a good thing you can pull it off!” Well, yeah, I guess it is.
That almost sounds like, “It’s a good thing you’re not hideous, because that could have turned out really badly.” Well, thanks.
“I bet it’s easy to manage.”
Well, yes and no. Shorter hair doesn’t clean itself. And I still somehow manage to have bed head every morning, even with shorter hair.
Although shorter hair often comes with a number of concerned people, shorter hair does not mean the end of the world. Cutting your hair is actually a liberating action that—as cliché as it sounds—is very freeing. I suggest that every woman cut her hair at least once in her life. Even though the many questions that follow may be annoying, you’ll get through it. I promise.
