In my limited (and sad) experience with Tinder, I have noticed some troubling patterns among the profiles of guys I come across. I don't say this to be mean, I just have genuinely wished that I could just sit some guys down and show them the ways that their profile is keeping away the ladies. And now I can! So here is everything wrong with your Tinder profile and how to fix it.
1. Unflattering Pictures
I cannot tell you how many guys have unflattering, awkward bathroom selfies as their main profile picture. It doesn't matter how attractive you are, you can always take a better picture than some selfie taken from a weird angle in harsh lighting. Even a good selfie isn't really preferable. Have someone take a picture of you when you're doing something you love. Have someone take a picture of you when you're dressed nice for an event, like a wedding. Ask your best friend, roommate, mom, whoever. If you're embarrassed or unsure, I almost guarantee you have a girl friend that would love to help you take a nice picture for your Tinder. Also, mid-workout photos give a pretty arrogant vibe, and posing the exact same way in each of your pictures makes us question your mobility.
2. Too Little (Or Too Much) Information
Here's the thing, when a girl comes across a profile with only two pictures and your height in the bio, she's almost always going to swipe left. Because when you don't say anything about yourself we're pretty much forced to assume that you're a weirdo...or serial killer. Just give us a couple sentences about yourself. School, work, hobbies, etc. On the other hand, there is such thing as too much information. It's great if you love fishing and hunting, but you don't need to have all of your pictures be you holding fish and make your entire bio about how much you love it. Because that's a little overboard, and nobody needs to know how deep your love of killing animals is until they get to know you a little better.
3. Typos, Typos, Typos
Your Tinder bio is probably made up of only a few sentences, if that. You should be able to proofread that much and not have tons of spelling or grammar mistakes. This is your representation of yourself to the world and to the people you want to date. Typos don't necessarily comment on your intelligence, but they definitely say that you're too lazy proofread a couple of sentences. Look it over a few times, and once again, get a caring friend to check it for you.
4. Trying Too Hard To Be Cool
Something I've noticed on Tinder is that so many guys try way too hard to seem cool. Whether it's the heavy dose of irony, or the condescending "swipe left if" statements in your bio, it's clear that being cool is most important to you. I get it, everybody wants to be cool, but maybe just try a little bit of earnestness. It's okay to show that you have hobbies that you're passionate about and that you genuinely do want to find someone to date on Tinder.
