Thank You Guy Fieri, The Man Who Inspired My Dream To Become A Food Critic

Dear Guy,

I just want to start off by saying wow. I am honestly in complete awe of your life and everything that you have accomplished. I have always had a passion for eating and trying out new cuisines and exploring different cultures, and I am just so thankful that you are somebody which I can try to follow in the footsteps of. You have given me the ability to put those passions of mine into a hopeful career and showed me that you can be successful with a career that pursues your passions.

Growing up I always watched the food channel, and I have always found it to be my favorite channel. I'm not going to lie to you, watching your show Diners Dives and Drive-Ins became a love-hate relationship because I was always in awe of all destinations you have traveled to as well as all of the food you have been able to eat. It was always torturing to see the process of all those meals being made and you digging into that first bite. I would find myself having to be eating something appetizing at the moment or else it would just be so depressing to see all of this good food that I wasn't available to. I know this may sound bad but I am saying this because I have always been envious of the life which you get to live. I'm glad that if anybody had to eat those delicious looking meals instead of me, it was you.

I really applaud how you can find all of the hidden gems of the nation which a person wouldn't normally go to on their own. There are so many restaurants in the world and as a society we like to make perceptions of food places a lot of times based off of where it's located or the physical appearance, or even just looking at if the restaurant seems to have a lot of customers, but looks can be deceiving, you taught me that. A lot of new restaurants struggle with getting customer's and then their menus are still under construction but their food is really good and the restaurant has high potential, it's just that they haven't gotten the customers filing in like they need. You have given so many unacknowledged restaurants a platform and a chance to promote themselves, gain business, and be successful.

You have aided in me not being a picky eater at all, and my ability to be able to try anything. You have helped me appreciate the importance of diversity of culture and diversity of cuisines and food types in a community, and you have inspired my desire and dream to become a food critic of my own making, traveling the world and exploring different communities, cultures, and cuisines. You are the real MVP and I love you so much. I just want you to continue to keep living your best life and eat on! :)

Sincerely,

Elise Williams

P.S. I would be so honored to meet with you one day and sit down and have a meal with you, it would be a dream come true!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
