Although having those girls nights out, spa days, and shopping sprees are totally still necessities in a girl's life, there are some things that every girl just needs a guy for. Hence, having a guy BFF is totally just as awesome as having your gal pals for totally different reasons.

1. He won't beat around the bush when it comes to giving his opinion about something.

It's definitely a guy thing. They have a certain bluntness about them that most girls lack. He doesn't like your new boyfriend? You best believe he'll tell you. That dress you've got on isn't exactly his favorite option? Yeah, he'll let you know.

2. He can give the best advice about your relationship.

He's a dude and he's your best friend. Therefore, whatever the problem may be, he knows how a guy's mind works and he knows how your mind works too, to a certain extent.

3. You can literally eat whatever you want without fear of judgment.

Wanna eat three cheeseburgers or a whole pizza? Not only will you not be judged, he'll get three cheeseburgers and a whole pizza with you!!

4. There is no drama.

I repeat, there is no drama. Can I get an Amen?

5. Watching a movie really does just mean watching a movie.

When dating someone, there's the constant Should I be holding his hand right now? Is now a good time to lay my head on his shoulder? Is he gonna kiss me? thoughts running through your mind. With him, you both know that it always is really just watching a movie.

6. Your insecurities never matter when you're with him.

Girls can be so judgmental, it's in our nature. And with a guy you like, you're obviously dressing to impress. It's your personality that made your guy BFF befriend you, though. Your appearance may change from time to time, but as long as its the same ole you, he couldn't care less about anything else.

7. There is no forcing anything.

No fake smiles or laughs. No short texts to keep the conversation going. And you can be as mean and sarcastic as you want because he knows how to take it. Better yet, he'll feed the sarcasm and jokes right back. Every. Time.

8. He's more protective of you than your girlies are.

Again, whether you appreciate it in the moment or not, he knows exactly how boys can be. He sees when they're being genuine and when they're not.

9. Your parents are totally cool with you hanging out with him whenever and they never worry.

There's no criticism or suspicion ever. Rather than being harassed by questions beforehand as you would be with someone else, all you have to say is that you're going to hang out with him and you've got the automatic thumbs up from them.

10. You can always use him as your fake boyfriend if that totally creepy dude won't leave you alone.

He's cool with it, and he's probably used your name before, too. Once you're out of the creepy dude situation, you both can just laugh it off in the end.

11. You know he's there to stay.

Sure, you fight with him more than anyone (and sometimes you really want to hurt him) but at the end of the day, you're well aware that life really wouldn't be the same without him. And that's a good thing, because he's not going anywhere.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
