5 Reasons You Should Have A Guy Best Friend

The fall season is upon us and all the singles are thinking the same thing – "I need someone to do all the cute couple stuff with for the holidays". News flash you don't! All you need is a guy best friend. Trust me on this if you don't already have one – GET ONE.

1. He will always be your hype man. 

No matter what idiotic decision you make or how emotional wacky you were the other day, your guy best friend will support you. Mine literally has had my back no matter what the situation is. On your period and can't get your emotions straight? They are so scared of the "P" word that they'll do whatever to make you feel better. Crying over a boy? They'll be there to comfort you because they know how shitty they can be. Got a little to drunk last night and made some bad decisions? That's okay cause they'll probably tell you something they did that was much more absurd.

2. There are no female expectations to live up to. 

Girls are constantly comparing one another. What you wear, how you do your hair, your acne, your skin tone, everything is in constant judgment. Everyone tries not to do it, but in reality, each and every one of us does whether it's rare or on accident. The thing is with boys they don't have a clue what's in style and what's not, nor do they really care.

3. You get a pretend boyfriend. 

As college girls, this one is incredibly important. We have ALL encountered the creepy dude who won't take a hint nor leave you alone. Often even if you claim to have a boyfriend they don't seem to care, but if that "boyfriend" happens to swoop in… majority of guys will be gone before you can even blink. Guy best friends are the perfect person to protect you when you are just trying to have a good time.

4. You can do all the rowdy, "boyish" things you want to do with him. 

Want a break from typical girl activities – nails, shopping, movies, gossip? Call up your guy best friend and he'll probably be down for the most extreme ideas you can think of. They allow you to be a child again and do all the "stupid" things boys do which, let's be real, are incredibly fun! All of us need a girl break every once and a while.

5. He'll remind you that not all men suck. 

We have all had the tragic breakups that make you hate the entire species of "MEN". If you have a guy best friend, however, he'll show you all the good aspects because no matter what he does, as your best friend, you have to love him. Therefore, since your male best friend is amazing how could you possibly hate all men.


If all those reasons weren't enough for you, then listen closely, my guy best friends have been my rock through anything and everything. They will always have your back, do whatever is necessary for you to be happy and beat up whatever jerk crosses your way. Through every emotion, in the book, my guy best friends are there. Basically if nothing else, you do not need a Fall relationship you just need a guy best friend!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
