6. Mashuda Hall

Although Mashuda, a 50s style diner, easily has the best ambience of all the dining halls on campus, it unfortunately doesn’t provide vegetarians with many options. In essence, the only meat-free choice on a meal swipe is the macaroni and cheese. It is really good macaroni and cheese, but if you’re looking for variety, Mashuda probably isn’t the place for you.

5. Schroeder Hall

The primary reason why Schroeder is so low on this list is simply because it is such a gamble for vegetarians. This hall will always have chicken parm, lasagna, chicken caesar salad, and paninis, all of which contain meat. Other Schroeder meals rotate every once in awhile, but when they do contain meat, a vegetarian’s only option is the cheese pizza. Often, a vegetarian student has the choice between one pasta dish and cheese pizza. While this isn’t necessarily the worst, it could get repetitive quickly.

4. McCormick Hall

McCormick has a traditional dining hall environment, with a rotating cast of stations and unlimited food for a meal swipe. In and of itself, McCormick food isn’t exactly gourmet, often limiting the options significantly. However, this dining hall usually offers a solid number of meat-free options. Vegetarians are still somewhat limited, considering that burgers and hot dogs are usually the safest choices, and the ever-changing meals are often meat based. Instead, for vegetarians, there is a sandwich/wrap bar, a salad bar, a vegan bar, and cereal. If the newest meal of the day isn’t up to snuff, a McCormick grilled cheese will never disappoint.

3. Cobeen Hall

Cobeen is also a traditional dining hall, however, it generally has more, and better, vegetarian options than McCormick. Cobeen always has pizza, pasta, a salad bar, and a quesadilla bar, along with whatever the daily meal option happens to be. You will never have to struggle to find something to eat at this dining hall, and more often than not, Cobeen is a step up from McCormick, for both vegetarians and meat eaters.

2. AMU- Marquette Place

Marquette Place is kind of like a food court. There are five different food stations, and each of them has plenty of options for vegetarians. You will never struggle to find something to eat here, and because there are so many choices, it’s hard to get tired of the food quickly.

1. Straz Hall

Straz is easily the best dining hall for meat-free food. There is a stir fry bar, salad bar, pizza, hummus and pita station, and options for veggie burgers, quesadillas, and more. The food completely makes up for the walk to the dining hall. Overall, Straz has the highest quality food and the most options, making it the best place on campus for vegetarians.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
