Thanksgiving is the time of the year when people are really starting to feel the holiday spirit. Everyone is with family, surrounded by the people they love talking about the things that they love.
Of course, just like any other thing, Thanksgiving has its quirks. There are always family members that you didn't realize you were related to, and certain foods that will always be there for you.
So in light of Thanksgiving, here's a list of things that are (almost) guaranteed to happen at your Thanksgiving dinner.
1. Make small talk with the relatives you barely know and almost never see.
2. Have people ask you what your plans are for the future.
Common examples include "So what are you thinking about after school?" or "Have you decided on a career yet?"
3. See people claim to be on a diet when it comes to dessert but go to town on a 30 lb. turkey.
4. Deal with questions like "Oh so do you have a special someone for this time of the year?" and "How old are you again?" from people that I don't know.
5. Eat the random dish of food brought by that person only because your mom is forcing you to try everything and have "variety" even though that dish looks like the nasty patty from Spongebob
6. When you're eating and minding your own business and hear the sentence "Are you kidding me?". So you get ready to get up from the table because this argument happens every year, and is something you'd rather not be involved in.
7. Walking into the kitchen while the food is still being made and feeling like this:
8. Feeling slightly overwhelmed once you see all of the food that you're going to have to eat, and knowing how much you'll regret eating all of it in roughly an hour
9. Realizing that after everything is said and done, you'll get to take home leftovers and eat like royalty for the next few days
10. Taking a moment to relax at the end of the day and enjoying being surrounded by the people that you love, regardless of how awkward some of the conversations may have been. Because after all, these people are your family, and there's no one better to spend Thanksgiving with
