You remember it like it was yesterday, pressing your face to the glass and searching; straining to see the little blue bundle that would now become a big part of your life. Welcome to the family little brother. From this moment on, he would have a special place in your heart and you would always love him, even if sometimes you did not like him.
Growing up with a little brother or little brothers can be very tough and trying on your patience at times, but there are also many great memories to be made. When it comes to little brothers, there are always a few specific things I hear sisters or even older brothers complain about regarding their younger brothers. THE BATHROOM! Sharing a bathroom with a younger brother can be a difficult task. There is only so much counter space, little brothers are not neat, and they do not share well. There is cologne, deodorant, razors and razor heads everywhere. How can one little person have so much stuff to fill up an entire bathroom and then some. Even though the mess may get on your very last nerve now enjoy it while you can, because eventually you will have your own bathroom and it feels empty. You miss the mess almost as much as you miss having a little brother so close to you and being such a huge part of your life.
There are many aspects of having a little brother that can add to your life even if you do not see the benefit at first. When little brothers are younger, they follow you around all the time trying to be just like you, because to them you are older and cooler. I know personally that this can grate on a person’s nerves and patience, but it is the most sincere since of flattery. Having a little shadow follow you around when you are with your friends or going to school is something you have to get used too. Eventually they do grow out of it when they get older and they develop personalities of their own, even sometimes taking pieces of what they learn from you and incorporating them into who they will grow up to be.
Little brothers are a joy in life, but can also be a challenge. Boys are stubborn at times, dirty most of the time, and always loud. However, they make memories and leave imprints on your heart that you will treasure as a big sister or older sibling for the duration of your life. Enjoy everything that a little brother offers the good and the bad, it will lead to a much fuller life.
