My favorite part about growing up has been figuring out who I am. When I was little I spent a lot of time trying to conform and fit in. The older I get and the more I learn, I form my opinions and realize my passions. I take a stance on issues that I know a lot about, and I’m not afraid to disagree with other people. Sometimes I don’t agree with my parents or people I’m close to and THAT’S OK!
Sometimes it can be hard to hear arguments against me, but I’ve learned the value in considering all sides. I take all the information I learn and use my own knowledge and beliefs to decide on what I think is right or wrong. Everyone has an opinion and every opinion is important. A big part of growing is learning that differing opinions are important for growth and gaining knowledge. I love when people think differently because it helps me confirm my beliefs and helps me become knowledgeable about things I may not agree with.
Some things really shouldn’t be messed with; say please and thank you, respect others, hold the door, smile, and be sincere. But when an argument comes up, I learn all the facts, and make a decision for myself only! Knowing where I stand and holding onto those things truly shape me.
