There is nothing that compares to reminiscing about childhood memories. As I look back on these glory days, I have realized how blessed I am to have grown up in such a great town. The memories that I have made in my hometown will always be a part of me. I will endlessly cherish them. I always find myself recreating these days in my mind and wishing that I could return to that carefree lifestyle. I am thankful to call Colts Neck, New Jersey my home for countless reasons, and I am a firm believer that it provided me with the best possible atmosphere to grow and mature as an individual. If you grew up in Colts Neck, I’m sure you can relate to a few, if not all, of these experiences. They will definitely be familiar to you in some aspect and succeed in sparking meaning.

Orlando’s Pizza

This pizza parlor was the best place to go grab a quick slice of pizza, especially after sports practices or games. Running into friends in Orlando’s was practically guaranteed. The best part of going to Orlando’s was seeing Gino, the warmest and most genuine individual. When I heard of Gino’s passing, I was completely devastated along with the entire Colts Neck community. He always had the biggest smile on his face. Orlando’s will never be the same without Gino. I think anyone can attest that his presence made Orlando’s a special place.

Pop Warner

Pop Warner cheerleading and football was hands down the best part of my childhood. The Pop Warner program was in its prime when I was involved, which enhanced my overall experience. From cheering on the sidelines at the football games to competing in Florida at nationals, it was definitely a huge aspect of my life at the time. I had the opportunity to cheer for an undefeated football team during my middle school years which made the games exhilarating. I had the best friends during these years as well. The girls who I cheered with were like sisters to me, we were family.

Rec Camp

OK, so let’s get this straight. If you didn’t go to rec camp as a kid in CN, then you missed out big time. Rec camp was undoubtedly the highlight of my summers. Being able to spend time with my best friends every weekday during the summer was awesome. For the girls, camp days consisted of a lanyard, arts, crafts, and of course, flirting with the boys. For the boys, they consisted of dodge ball, man-hunt, and attempting to impress the girls with their athletic abilities. Let’s be real, nothing was better than rec camp.

Recreation Sports

Throughout my childhood, I played almost every sport. Since this was the time for me to get a feel for what I liked, my parents made sure to get me involved. I played rec soccer, basketball, softball, and tennis. CN rec sports were always fun because you either played with or against your friends. This made the games quite competitive and entertaining.

Colts Neck Fair

Every August the fair rolls around in CN. This has always been a fun part of the summer. Making plans to meet up with friends as a kid was a must, but it was nice because everywhere you turned you would see familiar faces. Whether it was going on rides, playing games, or getting cotton candy, the fair was a great time. The fair continues to succeed in bringing together the Colts Neck community, which establishes it as a special event.

Colts Neck will always hold a special place in my heart. The close-knit community that I grew up in provided me with exceptional friendships, unforgettable experiences, and sheer happiness. I have learned to appreciate the significance of this town over the years. I will continue to treasure the joy that it has brought to my life. Colts Neck is my forever home.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
