If you grew up in a big Southern home, there are just some things you know. Here are 30 things only you can tell people about your childhood.

1. Your grandparents, aunts, uncles, fifth cousins and everyone else lived at most 20 minutes away from you.

2. Your cousins were more like siblings.

3. You’re probably Baptist.

4. You thought ‘liberal’ was a disease or a very foul word until you were 13 because everyone always said it with a look of disgust on their face.

5. There’s one person in the family you call “Bubba”

6. Sunday meant lunch after church at your grandparents’.

7. Having an even number of children between families so cousins were always paired up with someone else.

8. You’re related to half the town if you look hard enough.

9. Tattoos and piercings mean you are going to Hell.

10. Your Facebook is filled with family members more than it is actual friends.

11. There somehow always ends up being an abundant amount of food every time there’s a social gathering.

12. No on ever forgets your birthday… Except maybe that one time.

13. Expectations involve getting married to another extreme Republican, settling down in a home 10 miles from where you grew up, and having at least 3 kids.

14. Your cousins grew up to be your best friends.

15. You always had a babysitting job.

16. Cussing and drinking made you like black sheep of the family.

17. You’ve heard “oh did you hear what happened to *fill in name here? I’m putting her on the prayer list.”

18. The prayer list at your church takes up most of the bulletin.

19. When you bring a boy home the first thing he’s asked is “Are you Baptist?”

20. Going on a date for the first time was a terrifying experience for you and for your date.

21. Your dad may or may not have had a gun by your front door when the gawky, nervous boy walked in.

22. If you dated a boy who drove a car he was called “a sissy” because “real men drive trucks”

23. Going on a date one time means your mom told almost everyone in your family and you will never live this date down again.

24. Your family will start planning your wedding if you date someone for longer than 3 minutes.

25. Your worst fear is running into a family member while on a date.

26. Corporal punishment was encouraged in your household.

27. “Yes ma’am, no ma’am” “yes sir, no sir” was said more often than anything else.

28. Family helps out family. And that's the best gift you've ever been given.

29. If you didn't eat all your food at the dinner table, you never left it. (I once sat at the table for an hour... I really didn't like Hamburger Helper.)

30. You've seen every Lonesome Dove, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movie at least 30 times.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
