"Grey’s Anatomy" is your “binge-watch” television show. It has romance, drama, and successes all throughout it and it never gets old. There are many great aspects of Grey’s and in a way, it shapes your life.
1. Dance it out
Christina and Meredith have, what we call, best friend goals. They know exactly what the other person is thinking without saying a word. They are significant others and also each other’s significant others. It is basically two for the price of one. Now, one of their most famous moments is when they “dance it out.” Whenever Christina or Meredith is overwhelmed or having a terrible day they turn to music and dancing. They turn the music up as loud as it goes and dance like crazy women. It is a way for them to let everything out and for those few minutes they feel like the weight is lifted off their shoulders. Every girl who has watched Grey’s has done this at least once with their best friend. Now, we turn to “dancing it out.”
2. The Nazi
She stands as the strong independent woman figure. Patients know her as Dr. Bailey, while interns know her as The Nazi. It all begins in season 1. The main characters, whom are the interns, are introduced and immediately start referring to Dr. Bailey as The Nazi. She knows exactly what she wants to accomplish and she gets it done. We all strive to be her. One of her famous speeches from Season 1 goes like this, “I have five rules. Memorize them. Rule number one, don’t bother sucking up. I already hate you. That’s not gonna change…” This is the scene where we all begin to idolize her. We begin to stand up for ourselves and strive for what we want to accomplish because of The Nazi.
3. McDreamy
Oh, McDreamy. We all LOVE him. His relationship with Meredith is the relationship we all want. He genuinely loves her. He falls for her and she falls for him. They are what we strive for. McDreamy sets the standards VERY high for men. As we watch Grey’s, we cry and wish that we had someone just like him. He surprises her with flowers, puts her first, and shows her off. What more could we want? Exactly. That is all we want. In the last episode of season 2, Meredith and McDreamy are in the X-ray room yelling at each other and then they have a break through. But Meredith leaves McDreamy hanging by saying, “Meredith, what does this mean?” and she doesn’t respond. We live for the cliff hangers in McDreamy and Meredith’s relationship.
As the episode closes, there is a specific quote that makes you think, “Human beings need a lot of things to feel alive. Family. Love. Sex. But we only need one thing to actually be alive. We need a beating heart. When our heart is threatened, we respond in one of two ways. We either run or we attack. There’s a scientific term for this. Fight or flight. It’s instinct. We can’t control it. Or can we?”
It is quotes like these at the end of each episode that change us. They make us think deep into our lives and relate what has just happened in that episode to what is or has happened in our lives. Whether it is a positive or negative change it can help us make changes. Grey’s sends a powerful message to teenage/college, emotional girls. It touches on things we actually encounter in life, death, breakups, and more. This is why we LOVE Grey’s.
