The Great Debate: Mac or PC?

Back in the old days, when you used to have a specific room for your ginormous desktop computer, things were almost easier. Yes, dial-up was a pain, but hey, we didn't know anything else. Everyone seemed to have a PC, and as far as I remember, it was only used for two purposes: computer games and Microsoft Paint.

As time has passed, many tech wars have been fought in the name of Apple. Remember iPhone vs. Blackberry? Or remember iPhone vs. Sidekick? Even now we still have Apple and Samsung fighting against each other in the great battle of iPhone vs. Galaxy.

Another great debate has risen since though:

Macs vs. PC's.

Now, I have to say, I'm biased. I had three PC laptops throughout the course of my twenty years of living. After about a year, each one of them got very, very slow. I tried the virus softwares that cost almost as much as the computer, I deleted everything but the Internet, and all those annoying toolbars were systematically taken down.

Nothing ever changed. The computer was as slow as always.

Then came the worst part: they crashed.

Okay, not all three crashed, but two out of the three did. I know, I know, I've heard it all before. It was the websites you went on, it was something you clicked on, it was all your fault.

Blah, blah, blah.

After a ton of blue screens, and the final death of my PC laptop, I decided it was time to do the ultimate sacrifice—I would get an Apple Macintosh.

Now, I'll admit it. The price is crazy. I mean, shelling out a ton of money on a laptop seems silly, especially for a college student with a next-to-nothing budget. I mean, even the student discount, while it made a bit of a difference, didn't have a huge impact on the final price.

Then came the whole, there's no copy-paste or right-clicking problems. I mean, I've been a PC girl my whole life, so it was a huge adjustment. It also took a lot of Googling and a whole lot of guessing.

To top it off, there's no backspace button, only a delete one, which I refused to use for a good three months because I had this fear that it would actually delete everything I had just done. Don't even get me started on the fact that you have to buy Microsoft Office separately or download it from your University.

Still, despite all it's drawbacks, two years later, I'm more than pleased at my decision to switch over.

First, my Mac hasn't crashed and hasn't slowed down, like at all, which is insane when compared to the other laptops I had. Also, it helps that the Genius Bar is always available when I do encounter a problem that far exceeds my technical prowess.

Alright, obviously it's not the technical review you were hoping for. It's just my opinion on things, and I say, I've been changed. Apple Macs have changed my life, and they actually are worth it in the long run.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
