Throughout American history, we have been graced with great men. However, behind every great man is a great woman, but that is not what I am doing. I want to pay homage to the many great American men as America's birthday come up. Here are the 12 great American men, at least in my eyes, that have helped men across America become better.
11. Theodore Roosevelt
The 26th President of the United States of America and the youngest president, Teddy Roosevelt was a man who led the legendary 'Roughriders' in the Spanish-American War in 1898 and in 1912, was shot during a campaign in Wisconsin and still managed to give his 90 minute speech.
10. Abraham Lincoln
The guy who preserved the Union, abolished slavery, and strengthened the federal government, the 16th President of the United States fought for what he truly believed and fought many vampires in his time.
9. John Williams
Creating movie scores that take you on adventures like Star Wars and that can strike fear into your bones like Jaws. Since the 50s and and going strong today, his works bring a sense of magic for all ages that proves that music can bring generations together and connect us on an emotional level8. Jackie Robinson
The first African American to play Major League Baseball. His ability and incredible talent for the game challenged the traditional basis of segregation which then marked many other aspects of American life. He was an icon and helped impact the culture of the Civil Rights Movement as well as contributing significantly to it. He stood up to the hate and was rewarded our hearts.
7. Rick Astley
Rick Astley is a man who keeps the traditional idea of a gentleman alive. He is a man who will never give you up. He will never let you down. He will never run around and desert you. He is never going to make you cry and he is never going to say goodbye. He will never tell a lie and hurt you.
6. Stephen Colbert
The man, the myth, the legend, Stephen Colbert has been bringing us up to date on political agendas for nine years. Now, after taking over the Late Show previously hosted by David Letterman, Stephen Colbert still keeps the political jokes coming left and right and will not hesitate to bring down the evil media like Fox News and Donald Trump.
5. Thomas Whitmore
President Thomas Whitmore is a great American who helped lead the world in the greatest and largest aerial counter attack the world has ever seen against the alien threat in the War of 1996. He leads the squadron, using his skills as a Gulf War pilot, to the ship closest to Area 51 to bring them down.
4. Bruce Bogtrotter
I have said this before on many occasions, but Bruce Bogtrotter is an unsung hero for kids in the 90s. Going into the devil's pit and ate a piece of chocolate cake, which was noted by the devil herself as "The most scrumptious cake in the world," Trunchbull tried to make an example out of him by forcing him to eat a giant cake. At a time when it looked hopeless, the masses gathered around him and he finished the tray.
3. Jeffery Lebowski
Dubbed as "The Dude," this laid back man knows how to take it easy and enjoy the little things in life. His best friend and Vietnam War veteran Walter will most likely destroy your car with a crowbar when crossed. However, you can always make friends with them by bowling with them. Just make sure you do not break the rules. Walter cares deeply about the rules.
2. Daryl Dixon
During a zombie apocalypse, you might want to have a skilled survivalist like Daryl Dixon with you. He hunts and is deadly with a crossbow. Sure enough, he can help restore America after it falls like in a zombie apocalypse.
1. Ron Swanson
Ron Ulysses Swanson, or Ron F*%$ing Swanson, is a man among men. He is a simple private man. He loves breakfast food and pretty dark haired women and loves to fish because it's relaxing. "It's like yoga, except I still get to kill something." He has given multiple life lessons like, "Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing."
