I always see my grandpa’s eyes water every time I ask about my grandma who passed away seven years ago. However, he knows that whenever I ask, it is purely out of curiosity and because I wanted to gain knowledge from him.

Knowing this, I proceed to ask his thoughts on getting married young since he got married to my grandma when they were nineteen years old.

“It was not a normal thing to do even back then,” he said. He told me of how his mother was becoming sick, and she wished to see him get married before she died. My grandpa was a loving and obedient kid so he fulfilled her request and proposed to his girlfriend.

He also never thought of getting married considering how young he was; even when they were madly in love with each other.

Life took another turn, he got married. He told me he did not regret it nor he would change it if he were to repeat his 19 years old life again. “It was a beautiful thing,” he said. He loved the way his wife was not only a motivator in life but also someone who he would share everything with. Someone who he could grow together with and develop as a better person at the same time. Someone who he would spend the rest of their life with.

It was not easy nor difficult, he taught me about how it was all about understanding. It never came from his mouth of how he was worried about the relationship, but he mentions several times of how beautiful it was to have a wife at such an early age.

He told me of how there was nobody in his college who has five children at the time of his undergraduate year. “I had five kids in college when having one was already unique enough,” he said.

He told me how there were so many people who supported and felt sympathetic about his marriage. Aside from being married, he also worked and studied which made more people think that it was inspirational. Many professors at the universities that had him in class would ask about him; he was the special kid.

Financially, it was not troublesome since many people helped him through almost everything. His brother lent him a car, his parents helped him with the wedding, his boss even gave him a house, and he got lots of credits payment from the bank.

People were generous to do that, and I would say, my grandpa was one of the luckiest people in the world. Not many people were able to marry at such a young age with no finances to begin with.

In his case, many people helped him throughout his journey.

I think that being married at such a young age is feasible when many people support you financially or if you already able to provide for your family. Finances can be one of the biggest problems in a marriage.

However, when other people help you to provide then it is not a big problem anymore. My grandpa was the lucky one, and so was my grandma.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
