When You Rip Off The Band-Aid, Political Arguments Are Lazy

There are deeper, un-addressed issues when it comes to politics.

In wake of all the school shootings that have been occurring, a solid bulk of people always run to the quick and easy blame. Anyone could guess they would be blaming guns and screaming for more gun reform. In reality if you look at the big picture of the problems of our modern society blaming guns is a Band-Aid answer to the problem, a quick simple no thought answer.

Lately, things have been very heavy and the climate of the country has been very, very tense to say the least. Emotions are running high about everything, and everything has become a touchy issue. Many feel so overwhelmed with what is being socially demanded. Divisions between the public, especially the youth, are at a peak level in the country, and it does not seem like it will get any better anytime soon.

The way we have carried ourselves in the political sector of our lives has not helped in the least bit, and this heavily contributes to this problem. We are at the point in society where we feel comfortable alienating people over differing beliefs. We feel totally comfortable with dehumanizing others if they do not politically align with us.

We keep pushing each other and putting pressure on everyone that is not needed socially. Everyone takes this way too seriously. Lines of who you can and cannot hang out with are based on political beliefs and who you can not be seen talking with. These deep political cliques dare not be crossed or there will be social hell to pay on top of social suicide.

As I said the heavy dehumanization of anyone who thinks differently than ourselves is taking a heavy toll overall, and these mass shootings are proof of it. Assuming everything about someone's life based solely on their political affiliation is such a massive problem that all demographics are ultra guilty of.

We are surprised that people's tops are boiling over. They are snapping and causing mass violence and going on shooting sprees. It makes no sense, we have made the society we are in ourselves. That is the reality and truth to it.

Whether or not we all want to take equal blame and responsibility is another thing, and if it is even possible to do so without saying but the other side is worse. Since we are the largest children politically to date.

We alienate and ignore, when we even get together with who we consider friends we all usually just end up staring into screens of all sizes and sort of, half way talk to each other. No real connection, eye contact or anything like that. Just totally disconnected from each other on every level. This is the toll that is being taken on society for how we choose to live currently.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
