We all know the feeling - you've been "talking" to someone, and you really like them, and every time your phone buzzes, your heart skips a beat because it could be them. But tonight, they're taking an eternity just to text you goodnight, and you're slowly dying on the inside. Well, put your phone down and try one of these activities instead - they're way more useful than giving yourself palpitations over a text from potential future bae.

1. Have a dance party. There is no better way to get out that anxiety than having a jam sesh to your favorite song.

2. Go work out. Your heart rate is already up - why not take it to the gym and burn a few calories while you're at it?

3. Practice your deep breathing. Meditating for 10 minutes at the end of the day gives you the chance refresh, re-focus, and reflect.

4. Clean your room. Who knows what's living under that pile of laundry that's been sitting on your floor all week... Eew.

5. Write a letter to a friend. Do you know how excited they'll be when they get a real live card from you in their actual physical mailbox?! Does mail even exist anymore?!

6. Call someone you love and tell them goodnight. No offense to potential future bae, but there are lots of other important people in your life who would love to hear from you.

7. Finish your homework. Don't fall victim to the new phrase, "Due tomorrow? Do tomorrow."

8. Think of someone besides yourself. Check out the webpage for your school's community service coordinator - they've probably got some cool opportunities for you to make a real difference in someone's life!

9. Get smart. It's election season, in case you haven't heard. Make sure you're being an informed citizen - do some research and think critically about the issues.

10. Express yourself. Sometimes the only way to get all those emotions out is through a pen and paper. Or a keyboard because, let's face it, it's 2016.

11. Validate yourself! You are an awesome human being, whether or not someone decides to text you back. As they say, you can't love another person until you learn to love yourself.

Now, throw your phone across the room and stop worrying!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
