To my Best friend before she travels the world

To my Best friend before she travels the world

To My World Traveling Best Friend,

First things first, you better send me some postcards! SInce you're leaving me for the summer, the least you could do is send me a letter. I am thrilled for you to have this experience, and not so secretly very jealous, so please keep me updated of everything detail. I can't live vicariously through you if you don't.

But in all seriousness, not that I'm joking about the postcards, have the best time and enjoy the journey. Of all the traveling we've done together, big or little, I think we can both agree that some of the best memories aren't only the trip highlights, but the small in between moments as well. I am sure you know what I'm talking about, but in case you're forgetting I'm talking about standing outside of a bakery for two hours waiting to get in, sipping water through a Twizzler in the car pretending it's a straw, running through the airport with a group of forty people trying to catch our flight, house hunting, thunderstorms in Estonia, and dreadfully chewing dramamine tablets.

Should I continue? Needless to say, we've always made the best times out of nothing. After having a tea party with the queen, eating canolis in Italy, (that I'm sure will be 100x better than Bova's. UGH, can you tell I'm jealous?) and singing Mama Mia on the shores of Greece don't forget to take in all the little moments too. Don't to

Of course take in all the big moments too, because, "Don't you realize? The next time you see sky, it'll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it'll be in some other school." This is your time. You're about to set out on one of the greatest adventures of your life. Visit all the most wonderful sites, meet incredible people and try all the new, exotic foods. No matter how crazy it may seem remember these few things. Nothing can be worse than that meat jelly. You may never get the chance to try it again, and Goonies never say die!

Above all else, be safe, have fun, be bold, be brave, be you (get it?) and don't forget about me while you're living large in Europe. Ciao! Adios! Au Revoir! See you soon. I love you. XXOO

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
