This is a goodbye.
A goodbye to the friends and families you've known since elementary school. The houses that became your second homes. The go-to restaurant where you spent countless hours with your best friends.
A goodbye to Friday night football games and your student section's chants. No more homecoming dances, proms, or spirit weeks. The coffee shop down the road that sometimes made you late for school and became a safe haven for last minute studying.
A goodbye to the halls, teachers, and kids you've spent the last four years with. The trails and the ice cream shops you used to hit on the way home for a refresher. Your favorite school activities.
A goodbye to your childhood pet that gives the best "Welcome Home"s. Your local movie theater where you know the exact price of your snacks. The annual festival that comes to your hometown.
A goodbye to your family that has been there for every failed test, break up, and embarrassing moment for the past 18 years.
But don't be nervous because...
This is a hello.
A hello to a whole new world of freedom. New friends and relationships. A new area to call home.
A hello to countless opportunities. A place that will always have a special spot in your heart. New activities and clubs.
A hello to all new memories that will be with you forever. To a “house” of your own. To new responsibilities and jobs.
A hello to classes that you’ll actually enjoy. A chance to do whatever you want. Managing your social and school life.
A hello to “adulting”. To finally being able to say “I go to ________ University”. To a whole world that awaits you.
High school to college is definitely a big transition. Leaving everything you know behind and starting brand new may seem scary, but there are so many more things that make the change worth it. Good luck, your future’s bright!
