Let's all go back to a simpler time...
Where our favorite sayings were "I can't wait to be on my own," or " I am so over high school." A simpler time where everything seemed to make sense. The work was easy, there was nothing but time, and our parents were only an email away. As freshmen, we enter our second semesters as college students, and we are gradually getting the hang of the "college" life, but when we are faced with problems we aren't ready to face, there is still a little piece in us that misses the easy days, and the fun that we left back in our younger years.
The demands of college will probably be the biggest reasons that high school will truly be missed. It was just easy and that's just that. It may have been challenging when we were in the midst of it all but looking back now, I'm sure we'd all go back for one last, good time. Back then, everyone knew how to work the system.
For me, those were my most relaxed years. You knew what teacher you could get an "A" out of, and you knew which one with whom wouldn't be swayed. The work didn't come in loads, but more in steps. It was a time when we could still act like babies, but didn't want to claim it.
Trouble in high school was not the same as trouble in college. Getting away with a bad grade in high school was nothing. Making up for it would be easy once the next six weeks came around, but as for college, you don't truly know your grades until the end of the semester. When you mess up on one paper you have to do your absolute best on the next two just to make up for that bad one. There was far more room for mistakes in high school than there is in college. Yes, both are years for good times, making mistakes and learning from them, but the real deal is that college is not the place to make too many of those mistakes.
It's obvious that college and high school are two different worlds. College is supposed to be that time when we are finding ourselves, meeting new people and having fun but in between all of that excitement are hard times where we are missing that comfort of being back where it all began. The walls of high school now hold the memories of old friends and good times. High school was the place where everyone knew everyone. Seeing the same faces may have gotten old through the years but it was what we all knew. Now we are at the place where we see a new face every day and not everyone is so friendly. We're all aware now that this is just life and we all have to grow up but reminiscing on the good old days will never be a problem.
