Summer is officially coming to a close, which means that many students are in the process of gearing up for the next academic year, whether they like it or not. As I, personally, was trying to avoid all responsibility involving anything school related I decided to watch episodes of one of my favorite shows "Parks and Recreation." And as I was watching it, I realized that Leslie Knope herself actually portrays a lot emotions that many students might have when going back to school. Don't believe me? Well, by the end of this post you will.
When you realize that school starts sooner than you thought it did.
"Two more weeks? I thought I had two more months!"
But then you get excited about back to school shopping.
Buying highlighters and white out have never been more exciting.
You suddenly realize that teachers require too much school supplies and too expensive books.
"I can seriously buy 3 iPods with the money I'm using to buy this book."
You get really excited that you're going to see your friends again after so long.
If there's any motivation that you need, this should be it.
But you also have to see people that you may not like, too.
"Three months was not long enough being away from you."
Sleeping in will become a thing of the past.
You might still stay up late as if it were summer, but you can forget sleeping in until the afternoon hours.
You can say goodbye to home cooked meals, too. (If you have to live somewhere else during school.)
Back to the diet of chicken nuggets and Cup Noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner,
You have to start mentally preparing yourself for learning new things, and of course, getting confused in the process.
It's time to, once again, start exercising the brain after not rigorously using it for a few months.
But no matter how hard you want to just give it all up, you know that there's the ultimate goal of just finishing school and that's your motivation to do so.
School may be hard at times and you just want it to be summer forever, the only way to get it over with is to just let it happen and finish strong.
So, here's to all of the students preparing to go back to school after a long summer! It might be hard to get back into a regular routine filled with alarms and classes and assignments, but maybe if you just use next summer as some sort of motivation, then you'll probably do just fine.
