Through every step in life, what’s meant to be will always find its way; from relationships to life-making decisions, it will all work out because of Gods’ will.
Many times I find myself seeking the love of God and his control in my life, however, there is always something forbidding me. From my own personal faith, to just everything else, unfortunately coming before Him. I want to say thank you to a best friend who gave me such uplifting advice. I could do nothing but try and understand it more myself by spreading it to you.
Right now in my life, I am about to embark on a brand new journey that isn’t set in stone yet. It is actually a pile of dust in the air right now because a few things I wasn’t expecting just had to occur. With all of this however, I could choose to dwell on the negative, I could choose to mope around all day on how unfair life is, but what will that change? Definitely not the situation itself, so other than trying to work on it personally, I am trying to finally learn how to put my life in God’s control.
Biblical Conviction is what I want to chat with you about because it is so real in my life right now. “Feeling convicted means you are fully convinced that this one thing you are doing is not bringing you closer to God and there is no way that you can continue to do it because God is greater”. Wow, right? This was everything to me when my friend shared it because so many times I find myself wanting to put God in control of my life but I always run away out of the fear of faith and having no control. Having no control over our choices or the way life happens could be a scary reality (it is for me), however, realizing that if God has control, then how could one go wrong, is what I am trying to focus on.
“God out of love and conviction exposes us to the truth (convictions) so we may be saved from ourselves. Biblical conviction leads to salvation; it is something to be thankful for”. The way I see it, the first step to anything is acknowledging that you need a change, admitting to yourself that something is missing. The idea of faith can be a powerful notion; believing in something that is completely out of our control can be very intimidating but at the same time so magical. This is what I am currently longing for; the faith of believing in something I have no control over and being okay with that because in my opinion, things seem to go a lot better when I am not thinking about them. I don’t know if it’s just me but when I have something that is flooding my mind, the situation doesn’t get better, it usually gets worse or I don’t feel any better about it. But the minute I forget and have my mind distracted (meaning I am in no control because I am not trying to control it) something good comes from that same, “negative” situation.
So what I am trying to get across here is that for me, the only way to feel secure right now, and to know that good things are indeed coming, is to take it out of my hands. God and his power is so much more than we could ever imagine and my goal is to embrace myself in that idea to start living a life filled with Him.
So for you, if you’re stuck in life right now, confused on what God’s plan is for you, I encourage you to pick up a bible and read. Read about all of the great things He has to show you and fill you with even in the midst of your confusion and loss of hope. Here are just some of the verses that have most recently impacted my faith…
Jeremiah 29:11-14
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.
Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
1 John 5:4
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
Job 42:2
I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
John 14
I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[a] believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?[b] 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
