In this life there are lots of moments of waiting, moments where you can’t move forwards or backwards. And those quiet calm moments are some of the most important in our lives. When you are waiting to get a test result back after days of studying, when you are waiting to hear back after an important job interview, when you are waiting to find the love of your life. You know, the one you’ve been imagining since you were 12 and watching High School Musical. The guy to come into your life singing your love song with flowers in hand. And maybe you’re at a place in life right now wondering your worth because boys just don’t seem to notice you. I want to encourage you to have patience.
God will lead you to him, and him to you. God has ever so tenderly placed you where you are right now in life. And he has ever so carefully placed him where he is at in his life. Don’t become discouraged because you haven’t met him yet. There are 7.4 billion people in this world, that’s over 7 billion people you don’t know. Think of how many people are in your state that you haven’t met yet. How about on your campus? Do you really know every person in that Math class you too often fall asleep during? It’s crazy to think of just how tiny we are in this great big world, but God loves you more than anyone else in this world. Not really, but kind of. He sees you as unique and significant in his master plan.
Don’t settle for less than you deserve because society tries to tell you the definition of love. Love is not being a side chick. Love is not feeling underappreciated. Love is not something defined of this world, God gave us marriage to have someone to uplift us and encourage us. Love is defined by GOD and GOD alone. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). This specific scripture I keep dear to my heart because it reflects the way God sees his perfect love.
You are worthy of so much more than this worlds definition of love. Don’t give into your desires. Stay true to what you know God has promised to you. A man deserving of your hand will be a vessel for God to pour his perfect love through. He will seek to encourage you and never degrade you. He will understand who you are and who created you. He knows you’re not a game, and you’re not his possession. He knows that the most beautiful parts of you are found within your heart. When you meet him there will be no hesitation, God will lay your heart in his hands with care.
So ladies, this one is for you. You are perfectly made in your father’s eyes, and no person determines that worth for you. Seek divine guidance in everything you do and I promise blessings will pour into your life. Pray for your future husband and his heart, pray that he too seeks you in his everyday life. Only Jesus can fulfill the dreams you have, give up the power you think you have to him. We naturally have impatient hearts, but if you overcome your worldly instincts and trust in God’s plan you will witness the most beautifully written love story, signed by your Heavenly Father himself.
