Dear Misogynists, God Is Gender Neutral For These 6 Reasons

A Rebuttal

1169
Women Disciples of Jesus

1. Mankind was made in God's image, NOT MAN was made in God's image.

Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

2. The Bible refers to God as He for two reasons.

The first is that the ancient Jews had a patriarchal society. Christians should be aware that Jesus was equal opportunity. He had many female followers and he treated them as He treated His male apostles. Greatest among these was Mary Magdalene. No, Jesus didn't marry her as some have proclaimed. The people who say this haven't read their Bible very well. Jesus did have a disciple who he loved but that disciple was Lazarus.

John 11:1-5 Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 (This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.) 3 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, "Lord, the one you love is sick."4 When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it." 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

I'm not going to write the female followers of Jesus out because there are so many. Here is a list that someone else wrote with all of the women in the New Testament. You wouldn't know they all existed if you only listened to misogynist men.

The second reason that God is called He in the Bible is that it isn't respectful to call God It. In reality, God is a spirit being, not a human male with genitalia. So, God has aspects that are male, female and all other sexes.

Let's try a sentence with It. God the It spoke to It's Son, Jesus. It just doesn't have a ring to it. Then, let's try Genesis 1:27 again. God formed MALE AND FEMALE in It's image. Nah, it just doesn't sound good either.

3. God is called Jesus' Father but . . .

Since God formed mankind in Their image, male and female, and since Jesus was living in the ancient patriarchal society where and when He lived, He wanted to be understood by the ancient Jewish people He was speaking to. Since they called God the Father, so did Jesus. If He had used the term the Parent(s), the ancient people would not have understood what He was talking about. Then, they probably wouldn't have listened to Him. Then, there would be no Christianity. Christians today argue over whether there is a Trinity or not. Jesus simplified because He knew that He was dealing with mere mortals.

4. The Bible IS for gender equality.

Any man who doesn't believe this is not following Jesus because Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself and that everyone is your neighbor.

Matthew 22:34-40 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"37 Jesus replied: "'‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS HANG ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS.

Your neighbor is everyone. The Parable of the Good Samaritan Luke 10:25-37.

Matthew 22:36-37 "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him."Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

Oh, and just in case anyone questions how to love God, there is this.

John 14:23-24 Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me."

5. It is insulting to God to not ackonwledge who God is. Respect God.

Rather than deciding that you don't like somethibg about God and will not follow what Jesus commanded, you should consider following the commands of Jesus. This is what decides whether you are a Christian or not.

6. The slippery slope is in not following the teachings of Jesus.

The Bible is wrong about some things and Jesus said so. Jesus just didn't have the time on earth to fix them all.

John 7:22 "Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath."

Matthew 5:38-40 40"You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well."

Matthew 5:43-44 43 "You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,"

Mark 7:1-8 The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus 2 and saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. 3 (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. 4 When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.)5 So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, "Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?"6 He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:"These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.'8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions."

Matthew 15:10-1210 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them."12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?"

This passage goes against the food prohibitions in all of chapter 11 of Leviticus. Leviticus 11 also goes against the covenant that God made with Noah.

Genesis 9:3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

Leviticus is not from God no matter how much "Christians" love to use it to hate other people. Too bad they don't care as much about the Ten Commandments, actual Commandments, and the two Great Commandments that Jesus gave.

God is all about having a heart for others.

1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love.

So, men who have decided to go against the fact that God is both or no gender because you want to keep women in their place, know this.

Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." 22 "Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"

Christian men, don't be one of those people. You will regret your choice. Learn to love your fellow man and woman. Acknowledge that God is gender neutral.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
