On this Veterans Day and just three short days after the presidential election, I felt it was a good idea for me to remind everyone just how great our country is. It seems that because some people are upset with the way the election turned out, they forget how great it is to live here, and just how many people let them live here in peace.
Veterans Day is a day that honors military veterans, it celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans. It is well honored, well respected, and well deserved because when men and women are being taken away from their own lives and families to fight for everyday people like you and me, they deserve to be remembered, and they deserve to be honored.
However, I can’t help but feel a little disappointed in this years November 11th. People have been protesting for three days straight, colleges have coddled the students who are upset over the election, and in one of the most disgusting acts people are burning the American flag. To go off on that I would like to say that no matter who you support, no matter who you voted for, if you burn the American flag you don’t deserve to live in this country, you don’t deserve to protest, and that is a disgrace on all accounts. However the reason you have the “right” to doing something as heinous as burn the flag is because of the veterans who are fighting for your freedom over seas.
Maybe everyone should take a step back, maybe its time to go home. If you don’t like the results of the election, maybe it’s time for you to try and accept the results because the truth of the matter is, it’s not changing. We in the United States of America have a new president elect and on January 20th, a brand new president and you owe it to him, to your friends and family members that both did and did not support him, and your veterans fighting for you, to respect him, support him, and give Donald Trump a chance.
You don’t have to agree with everything he says, you didn’t even have to vote for him, but in my opinion it is time to accept it, and help the country become united. Protesting for four years is going to be more dangerous than the presidency you claim he will bring.
I respect your opinion, I am glad you have one. I am sorry the election did not work out in your favor, but hate breeds hate and burning the flag and write disgusting things about your black and white fellow American’s on the streets is doing just that breeding hate.
It is time to come together, it is time to get over it, it is time to move on. Donald Trump is your president, respect him, respect us his supporters, respects his non supporters, respect your country, and most importantly respect the Veterans who do not deserve to be fighting over there just for violence and hate over here.
Spread love, show respect, and remember all of those past and present who have served this country. Who have given you the right to be a person who has human rights and freedom. And most importantly respect your president, he will be our representative for at least the next four years.
Maybe we can all show each other love, maybe we can all come together on a united front, and maybe just maybe together with the help of our president and the protection of our Veterans we can make America great.
