If you haven’t heard, which means you’ve been living under a rock, Marvel has released a new movie masterpiece known as "Deadpool." Over the past few years the world has been repeatedly entertained with Marvel’s vast array of superhero movies. From "Captain America" to "Avengers," there always seems to be a new box office hit coming out. So what makes "Deadpool" different from the rest of these? Isn’t it just like every other superhero movie? Besides being a fourth-wall breaking anti-hero, there are plenty of reasons you should go see the movie. Here are some of them:
1. Incredible advertising.
If you haven't seen the advertising for the movie, you are missing out. Every billboard, poster, or trailer showed exactly what you would expect "Deadpool" not to be about. The different styles left fans excited and amused to see what they would do next. What better way to start off the excitement of an anti-hero than with an anti-advertisement?

2. Fabulous mix of violence and humor.
Despite this being a Marvel movie it is rated R. This isn't a gentle R either, rated only because it had one extra swear word. The movie is an extremely hard R. It contains violence, gore, an abundance of sexual references, and nudity. That being said, it was one of the best mixtures of humor and violence that has been done in a long time. It stayed true to the Deadpool character, and met every expectation that was had for it.
3. Breaking the fourth wall.
In many movies, if you break the fourth wall it just seems tacky and unnecessary. This is when a character talks to the camera or seems to know they are in a movie. However, for Deadpool's character, it just makes sense. Not only did he break the fourth wall in many of his comics, but it also acts as a way to point out the ridiculousness and humor of the character and the movie in general.
4. Amazing, strong, independent female characters.
By now the world should know that we want to see more strong female characters that aren't simply written in to be a love interest, and that's exactly what "Deadpool" gave to us. From the badass Angel Dust that doesn't need any man to save her, to Negasonic Teenage Warhead who could literally bring an explosion to the Marvel universe, the movie doesn't hold anything back with it's female stars. Even Wade's spunky girlfriend Brianna isn't someone that fades into the background. The fact that she is portrayed as a sexual being is so important because it's on her terms. She chooses what she wants to happen to her, and it's incredibly important that we have more female characters like this.
5. Hidden Hugh Jackman.
More than once the Australian star was mentioned in the movie. Whether it was a quick jab at the X-men movies, a magazine being strategically placed, or using his face as a mask, there are tons of hidden treasures featuring Hugh Jackman.
6. Understanding the References.
As someone that normally misses the small references that movies add in, I was thoroughly excited to find that I caught on to most of the ones hiding throughout the "Deadpool" movie. Pulling pop culture references from the past couple of decades, and the present day, there is something for everyone to pick up on, and it makes the movie that much more enjoyable.
7. Music is off the charts.
With a movie as great as "Deadpool" you should expect nothing less than a great soundtrack. And that's exactly what's provided. Not only do they have fabulous hits like "Careless Whisper" by Wham! but they also introduce original music like the "Deadpool Rap" which you can all go check out here.
8. Best supporting characters.
There are always those smaller characters that stick out in your mind. For "Deadpool" every character sticks out in your mind. The smaller characters contribute important comic relief as well as bringing the true "Deadpool" universe to life. From the honest-to-a-fault bartender to the easily-manipulated taxi driver each moment is pure gold.
9. Pansexuality confirmed.
Straight from the comics Tim Miller, Ryan Reynolds and the writers all did an amazing job at bringing Deadpool's true sexuality to life, confirming that he is in fact pansexual. While the world is moving forward in terms of understanding and accepting different sexualities, there is still a long way for us to go. "Deadpool" was a way to start introducing an almost unheard of sexuality to life and doing it in a way that was tactful and didn't over or under play the characters.
10. Ryan Reynolds is overall amazing.
After that mayhem with Green Lantern, who would have thought that "Deadpool" would have been such a success? Um--everyone! If you had heard even one interview with Ryan Reynolds you would have known that he's not only a huge fan of the comics and the character, but he was determined to do right by him. And he did a fabulous job. No one could have portrayed him quite as perfectly as the man under the mask.
11. Do you really need another reason?
Get out there and go watch it!
