A common misconception is that Valentine’s Day is only great for couples, and some people absolutely hate that there’s an entire day dedicated to mushy cards and chocolate. I think that Valentine’s Day can still be a fun time for anyone, despite his or her relationship status. After all, Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love. Even if you’re not planning to spend Feb. 14 with that someone special, you can still spend the day celebrating love for your friends and yourself! Need some inspiration? Check out these ideas for a fun-filled Valentine’s Day.
1. Galentine’s Day Party
"Parks and Recreation" fans know that Galentine’s Day, also known as Feb. 13, is the greatest day of the year. Throw a party for all of your girl friends to exchange gifts, eat and toast to friendship with some bubbly!
2. Spa Day
“Treat Yo Self!” this Valentine’s Day. Grab a few friends and head over to your favorite spa for a manicure, pedicure or both!
3. Volunteer at the Animal Shelter
Nothing makes me smile like cats and dogs, plus this is a great opportunity to give back to your community! Boys may come and go, but pets will love you for a lifetime.
4. Queso Party
Who doesn’t love queso? Pick some up from your favorite restaurant or have some fun making it yourself. Either way, a night with friends and chips and queso is sure to make for a great Valentine’s Day.
5. Movie Night
Call up your friends and ask them to each bring their favorite flavor of ice cream, a pair of PJs and their favorite movie. Go for a classic romantic comedy or mix it up with a horror movie if you’re feeling brave.
6. Dance Party
Taylor Swift and Beyoncé make for great Valentine’s Day jam sessions, especially if you’ve been through a breakup recently and just need to “Shake It Off.”
7. Celebrity Crush Marathon
You may not have a Valentine this Valentine’s Day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a "Gossip Girl" marathon or watch every movie Zac Efron or Ryan Reynolds has starred in.
8. Girl’s Night Out
Have some fun getting ready with your gal pals and spending the night out on the town! I’d highly suggest listening to Hannah Montana’s “GNO” at some point during the night.
No matter what your relationship status, Valentine’s Day can still be fun and exciting. Take one of these ideas and make it your own to celebrate friendship!
