Girls, Go VOTE.
While the #repealthe19th movement may have few followers, the fact that it is trending on twitter is a good reminder that our vote is not lost in the sea that is the electoral college...it has some major weight.
In a recent findings by Nate Silver, he discovered that if only woman were to vote in the upcoming presidential election, Hillary Clinton would grab 458 electoral votes, while Trump only 80. If contrast, if men were the only ones permitted to vote in the election 350 electoral votes would be Trump's to keep while 188 for Clinton.
These powerful statistics speak volumes. Why are women claiming Clinton as their nominee by a mountainous amount and men giving their votes to Trump in an equal manner?
Anyone have an answer....?
Because I do.
Gender inequality.
Many women as they should be are rightly fed up with Trump's misogynistic and hateful rhetoric, they understand that a vote for him is a vote against the very fiber of their womanhood and actually just themselves as human beings. Why would they want to vote for someone who calls sexually assaulting woman benign "locker room," talk, and why would they want to vote for someone with charge upon charge of sexual misconduct pilling up upon him? This is no man who "respects women..." for goodness sake he cheated on two of his wives, and who knows probably the third (and don't bring Bill Clinton into this, a woman's reputation should not be defined by her husband's poor choices).
As First Lady Michelle Obama exclaimed in her speech, in New Hampshire on October 11th, "Strong men - men who are truly role models - don't need to put down women to make themselves feel powerful." So why are people supporting a weak man who preys on strong women? Why is Nate Silver's research showing that if men only voted, they would elect a prominent figure of hate into the highest elected position in the nation, possibly the world. Silver's data shows that we still live in a largely misogynistic world. So....
GIRLS GO VOTE
Show the nation the power of a vote, and use your right to vote and put it to work. Susan B. Anthony and others didn't fight for our right to vote so we could vie for someone who appears to actively work against woman's rights.
As Michelle stated, "..the measure of any society is how it treats its women and girls." Girls, go vote for the candidate who will respect not just woman, but all people...be a true feminist. Vote for a candidate that will uplift those they lead, not belittle them.
Why should the nation regress when it can progress?
