Let's be real, being in college is the one time in our lives we can be unhealthy. College kids are able to pull off some crazy things. There are so many people on social media now who post so many lifting videos and post their extremely healthy food no one can afford; like don’t get me wrong I’m glad you are proud of yourself and whatever, but I don’t need to be scrolling on my newsfeed and see a seven paragraph essay about the new protein you bought or the seven pictures of your rock hard abs. We get it you’re fit!
There needs to be more people who post about the truth, so with that being said this is what my fitness blog would look like if I would post about my “healthy ways”.
Breakfast
I usually start with one candy bar followed by some type of candy bar. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? So all the sugar will get me through the day? Or something like that.
Snacks
I really like sweets so usually I crave cookies, candy, or puppy chow. If I don't have any of those near I try to scramble around to find the next best thing. One time I went to Dairy Queen and bought myself an ice cream cake. Keyword: myself. I did not share this ice cream cake, I ate it myself. It was damn good, and I’m proud to say I ate it all!
Another problem I have with snacks is that I always get ridiculously hungry at the wrongs times. Example: 3:18 a.m. I always eat so much when I wake up in the middle of the night?! This honestly happens at least three times a week. It's not just a cookie or a bite of something, I mean I eat four granola bars or the whole bag of mini chips ahoy.
My Belly
Don't worry mom and dad, I'm not pregnant, but I do have a food baby. If you don’t know what a food baby is it is when you eat WAY too much and your belly is hanging. Got it? If you don't get a food baby every now and again are you really living life? Basically, every night after I eat pretty big supper I CRAVE chocolate. Like if I don't eat something sweet right after I would probably die, so I finish up my meal with a hefty amount of dessert- usually a few candy bars or like about a whole bag of puppy chow, which really makes the food baby protrude over my waistline. Somehow I just never learn my lesson.
My Complexion
A lot of my friends are like you always eat so much sugar how come you don’t break out or anything? Well, remember that episode of "Drake and Josh" when they make a bet that josh can't play his game sphere and drake can't eat sweets? Later on in the episode, drake is shown with a nasty rash/hives all over his body from not eating the large amount of sugar he usually does. THAT WOULD BE ME. I honestly think I would have some form of immune breakdown if I didn't eat the amount of sugar or sweets I do. My body thrives off that stuff!
Although I eat extremely unhealthy, I get a lot of exercise which helps me feel good about my body. The moral of this article though is if you want to eat a whole frozen pizza, but you feel guilty, just do it! Life is way too short to 1. wear matching socks and 2. to eat healthy all the time. Go ahead and treat yourself! Only you know what your body is able to take in, so eat up and then go work out, or eat up, take a nap, and THEN go work out. The nap is crucial so make sure you definitely fit that in.
Don't feel guilty about eating something or being lazy every now and then, that's just sad. Social media doesn't have to be all about the fitness world, so go ahead and post pictures about how unhealthy you are, I totally support it because you’re a normal human! Just do you and stop comparing yourself!
