Most girls have been dreaming of their wedding day since they were little and I am no exception to that.

I can tell you the color scheme I like, the time of year I want to get married in, and even the exact church in which I want to say my vows. Even though I’m not planning an actual wedding, I can tell you all of those things, and even my very favorite part.

I will be wearing Nike Free Runs under my wedding dress.

I can already hear the voices of both of my grandmothers and all of my great aunts saying, “Why would you want to wear those on a day where you’re supposed to be so formal and dressed up?”

Well, because I want to actually enjoy the happiest day of my life. I do not know of anyone who actually enjoys wearing high heels, and I can tell you that I am most definitely not one of them. I want to be comfortable walking down the aisle and dancing with my future husband and all of the people I love the most.

Not to mention, I am also the worst at being a girly-girl.

If I even thought for a second that I would wear pretty high-heels walking down the aisle, I would soon be greeted by the reminder that I would never survive walking around wearing them under a long dress (so much potential to trip and fall) for a whole evening. The last thing I need on my wedding day is to get tangled in my dress and completely bust my butt walking down the aisle- the long dress is already risky enough, and I’m trying to narrow the possibility that I’m going to embarrass myself with my clumsiness as I already do on a regular basis.

Personally, I do not see anything wrong with wanting to wear what I want on my wedding day. It may not be the most traditional thing, but if I already live in Free Runs as it is, why change that for my big day? The bottom line is, if you do what makes you happy, that’s what matters, and it just so happens that wearing Nike Free Runs on my wedding day will make me the happiest girl in the world.

Oh, and that perfect future husband of mine, as well.
