I love to travel. Simple as that. There’s nothing like stepping foot on new land or even just revisiting old places with a new mindset. I want to explore different parts of the world – different roads near my hometown, different states in America, and different countries around the world. It’s just so hard to find the time and money to be able to see so many of the amazing places that exist on Earth. There is more to see out there than a person could even imagine, which is why I believe that I am sentenced with wanderlust.

Google defines wanderlust as “a strong desire to travel.” I am one of those people that is not satisfied with sitting in one place for very long. Days are short when you look back upon them, and time goes by fast, so it is important to make the most out of each and every day. This includes making the most out of your experiences in life. Yes, it is also nice to sit down and relax after a long day or after a stressful situation, but I also think that it is best to be active in life, try new things, and visit new places. In doing this, we can make ourselves better people by learning about new cultures and having a wider horizon of knowledge and worldliness.

Spending most of my life in rural Pennsylvania, one of the most memorable experiences that I have had in life is visiting Panama and Costa Rica. The excitement of flying across America, landing on foreign grounds, hearing different languages, and seeing beautiful new landscapes provoked feelings that cannot be explained. I want to go back to experience even more of the culture in Central America, but I also want to visit so many other differing places across the world. Being in a foreign place makes you feel more knowledgeable about the people and world around you. Human beings were given two feet to move around. I aspire to travel as much as I can throughout my life, whether it’s something as simple as visiting family members, or something much bigger like flying to foreign countries and stepping foot on uncharted land.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
