An open letter to the rejected girls of sororities

To The Girl Who Did Not Get Into The Sorority Of Her Dreams

To the girl that did not get into the sorority of her dreams, it is okay. You will do better next time.

Remember to smile, because that is one of the most beautiful features about yourself. Be yourself as well. No one wants a girl who changes her whole identity to join a small part of her college career. Would you still act that way when you got into the sorority if you got in?

Next time, ask questions. If you ever second guess yourself, ask one of them. They should always answer in a nice way since they would like you to join their pledge class. Be positive, if you ever seem like you are upset, it may look bad on you. It would show them that you may not be happy about wanting to join their sorority.

Remember to get plenty of sleep and eat. You may get nervous and it may keep you up all night but you should go to sleep no matter what since you will feel better when you wake up. Plus eating is healthy for you and if you do not eat then you may get sick and it will not be good at one of the Rush events.

Trust their system. They know what kind of girls they want to give bids to and you may be one of them. Sometimes they can only accept so much, so even if you are not what they are looking for, first time around, the second time you may be exactly what they need or want.

Dress to impress. Do not wear sweatpants, it may come across as "I do not care about looking good for important things." You should at least avoid wearing sweatpants if you do not want to wear dressy clothes.

Share something unique about yourself that no one can compare to. If you have a special talent or even a funny joke that no one knows about. You know the one that makes everyone laugh all the time.

You should ignore all the reputations about the sorority, even if they might be true. Go in with an open mind and always listen to what the sisters have to say. They might steer clear of the reputations of their sorority while during Rush week, to show you that they are the right choice.

Try to take notes each night so you can remember things about them so when they bring it up, you remember as well. Do not make it creepy though. You can make it look creepy if you stare at them when you take the notes or even ask them to repeat themselves.

To the girl who didn't get into the sorority, I believe in you. If you rush again, you definitely do better next time. You should remember these tips when you go again. I like you did not get into the sorority of my dreams but I found my family and where I belong and I absolutely love it. I made these amazing friends when joining student government and getting involved in my community. If you believe that the sorority life is not for you, then I hope you find your family in another organization on campus or off campus. I just want you to be happy and not sad at all.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
