I'm the Girl that Probably Starts Christmas too Early

But I have no regrets.

I'm the Girl that Probably Starts Christmas too Early

I know, I know. Just a couple of weeks ago I was at the store and there were Poinsettias and Santa Clauses parallel to ghosts and pumpkins. I was saying "too soon, too soon". I can't handle Christmas yet. With Christmas comes finals, buying gifts for people with the money that I don't have, and the end of another year. For me, however, Christmas starts on November 1st. I tried to hold back my love and joy for the Holiday season but I can't do it anymore. I will say October is a little overboard but November is the perfect start. I'm not waiting for Thanksgiving. It's the first of November? Well, hello Christmas.

(Also as a side note, this is about to be super cheesy so grab your Santa Clause hat and enjoy my friends)

It is never too early for Christmas. I get excited when it's Thanksgiving mainly because then it actually is socially acceptable to start getting out the Christmas decorations. The Christmas tree is cut down or set up if you have fake ones. The stockings are "hung by the chimney with care" and any radio station you turn on will have Christmas music playing. I am one of those people that just cannot wait until the middle of November to start bringing out Christmas decorations or jam out to "All I Want For Christmas is You".

I'm that girl who gets way too excited about Christmas. I'm that girl who memorizes the "ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas" schedule (sorry, Freeform, I just cannot do it). I am that girl who retweets the Christmas countdown on Twitter. I am that girl who spends an excessive amount of money on candy canes.

For me, starting November 1st, it's out with pumpkin spice lattes and in with the Christmas themed Starbucks cups and adding peppermint to every drink. It's out with "Monster Mash" and in with "Baby, It's Cold Outside". It is out with fall leaves and in with snow that blankets my beautiful campus. It is out with candy corn and in with candy canes.

The only sweaters I wear are ugly Christmas sweaters and I might have to trade my beanie in for a Santa Claus hat. The cookies I bake won't be in the shape of leaves anymore but of snowmen.

If stores can place reindeer next to witches and commercials can start spreading the holiday cheer now, why can't I? I'm admittedly the girl who probably starts Christmas too early but I have zero care, regrets or embarrassment. I've always loved Christmas. So I'm the girl that's going to throw out the pumpkins for Christmas trees and take down my fake spider web and hang up some garland. There isn't a thing anyone can say about it.

'Tis the season, my friends.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
