When You Give A Girl A Little Sister

"You give her someone to love more than she knew she could ever love."

When You Give A Girl A Little Sister
Ally Mishell Smith

When you give a girl a little sister, you change her life forever. Not only do you give her someone to share clothes and shoes with, you give her a built-in best friend. You give her a little sidekick who will be ready to fight anyone who comes after her big sister. You give her someone to encourage and someone to encourage her. You give her someone to laugh with and someone to cry with. You give her someone to wipe her tears when she cries. You give her someone to get excited with when something good happens in her life. You give her someone to love more than she knew she could love.

When you give a girl a little sister, you give her a built-in date. You give her someone to eat out with and someone to finish her food when she can't eat it all. You give her someone to watch movies or Netflix with. You give her someone to drive around town and have dance parties with. She will never have to be alone because she will always have her little sister.

When you give a girl a little sister, you give her a photographer and someone to be in her pictures. Whether it's a cute picture at the beach or in the backyard, your sister will always be her person to take the perfect Instagram picture. Your sister will always be willing to take a picture with you, even if mom forces her to be in the picture.

When you give a girl a little sister, you give her someone to be herself around. You give her someone who she never has to hide around. You give her someone who will act like a complete fool with. You give her someone who will always cheat at board games, then claim she's "just that good." You give her someone to laugh so hard with that she is in tears.

When you give a girl a little sister, you give her a #1 fan. Someone who will sit at a basketball game for hours to support you, even though she'd much rather be playing outside or playing with her toys. Someone who will give up her Saturday to sit in a crowded auditorium for a show choir competition. Even though she would rather be doing anything else, she loves being your biggest fan and she would do it every day if it meant supporting her big sister.

When you give a girl a little sister, you give her an inspiration. Someone who will live every day to the fullest and will never let anyone stop them from doing what they are trying to accomplish. Someone who will try her hardest to improve at something she loves. Someone who encourages you to do your absolute best, but loves you even when you fail. Someone who will be friends with anyone they meet and show them the sweetest love anyone could have. Someone to inspire you to be your absolute best, even on your worst.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
