*Warning* Spoilers Ahead
This past Thursday, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was released on Netflix. I was so excited to see the four special episodes of one of my favorite shows. I've been following the news and social media about the revival since they announced it. I'm not ashamed to admit that I watched all four episodes in a row, which means I watched 6 straight hours of Gilmore Girls because I was so excited to see Rory, Lorelai and many other characters back on my TV.
The revival episodes had ups and downs. I teared up when Richard's death came up, laughed when the Life and Death Brigade came back, cheered when old characters came back on the screen. I was so excited for this series revival and my biggest wish about the revival was that it would provide closure for all the characters. The character development with Emily and Lorelai was amazing. Seeing how Richard's death affected all of them was touching. The moment where Lorelai called her mother to tell her about the mall incident with her dad resulted with me in tears of happiness. I loved the whole steampunk scene with the Life and Death Brigade, it was the perfect humorous and touching to see that they all came back to her. And seeing that Rory was floundering a little in life and hadn't had everything figured out made me feel a little better about my own life.
However, I am beyond frustrated with the way that the revival ended. Not to mention that they made Rory so out of character. AND the fact that they ended the last episode of the revival The Rory that I know and love would never string a guy like Paul along because she literally kept forgetting about him. She was the "other woman" again considering what it did to Dean's marriage and how she was affected, I never thought they would make her this character again. It was disappointing to see the drastic change in Rory.
And on another note, JESS is not a plot device. His character development and change throughout the series was so good, and in the revival, he is barely seen unless it is to further the plot and Logan+Rory relationship.
And also what happened with Paris and Doyle? I can't believe they are getting divorced. Or what is the lack of Lane and Rory moments?
All in all, the revival series was good. I got to get closure between Rory and Dean, Luke and Lorelai got married and their wedding was literally a dream come true. The revival had good parts and bad, I just hope that there is more coming because that cliffhanger is not okay.
