5 Gifts Your People Will Really Love

Presence makes the best presents.

Okay, ladies, I'm jumping right into this one because it's fun.

First, let me say that for me, 100% of the time, gifts have the ability to take form in ways other than just a physical present. A day spent together shopping with your best gal can be just as much of a gift as something wrapped in a box, with shiny wrapping paper and a bow. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not knocking presents because they are a great time. However, I've also heard it said that someone's "presence" can sometimes matter more than their "presents".

Just a thought, but let's get down to it.

1. Spend a day shopping and buy them dinner.

Show your guy or gal some love and spend the day shopping together and picking out other Christmas presents and insist on treating them to a fancy dinner and make sure they feel loved and appreciated. We take for granted those true friendships and it is so important to make sure our loved ones truly feel that love, especially this time of year.

2. Buy them a gift certificate to get their nails done/massage.

Take it from me this one is amazing. Sometimes we just need time to relax and really take our mind off of all the stress that most of us deal with from day to day and this can just show your gal that you really care about her and hey maybe even tag along!

3. Paintings/canvases

If you know someone or they know you well enough, these options can be spot on. Say you have something painted that is really important to them like their sweet doggy or their home; something like this can be so sentimental and sweet and something she can hang up and treasure for very long time!

4. Gift cards

One thing people say about gift cards and your close family/friends is that they are not okay. Well. I've never looked at a gift card and back at the person that gave it to me and said, "Nah, I can't except this, it's too impersonal." If my best friend got me a gift card to my favorite restaurant or my favorite place to buy makeup or favorite clothing store, I would be stoked because I'm so picky and they know that it would be better just for me to pick out what I want!! GIFT CARDS ARE OKAY PEEPS (and honestly welcomed).

5. Concert tickets

Okay, so the last one is a bit much but it's great if you want to take part in the gift with them and honestly, it can be the most fun to give because of their reaction!! My most favorite gift to give and receive. Hands down.

Nothing can beat being in the audience with your best people and singing along to the words of your favorite song!

So whether it be a present in a box, or an experience together, always take the time to think about what your friends truly love, but don't overthink. It's easier than it looks if we just take our heads out of the shopping mall catalog and think about all the time we can be spending with each other!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
