Getting a tattoo is something that I have wanted for quite some time. I put a large amount of thinking into it and finally decided to move forward and get it done.
1. Bringing Myself to Make the Appointment.
I wanted a tattoo since I was a teenager and once my great grandmother passed, I knew exactly what I was going to get. I waited two years to become of age and then a little bit more to gather up the money. After making sure I had everything in order, I went ahead and made the appointment. The days leading up to the appointment day were a flood of excitement and all I could think about was getting my tattoo. I ordered aftercare online and planned out the day of my appointment; what I was going to do beforehand and afterwards.

3. Getting the Actual Tattoo.
I stepped into my tattoo artist's room and he put the stencil on my arm. I looked at my arm in the mirror and it was perfect, so I laid on the table and breathed deeply. I concentrated on controlling my breathing, making it so that when he drew on my skin, I exhaled. When the needles first touched my skin, I was shocked. Not because of the pain, but because it really didn't hurt. It kind of tickled, in a way. At times, it really did feel like someone was dragging their nails across a sunburn, but it also wasn't a serious pain; it was simply an irritation.
After I was finished, I looked in the mirror and was incredibly happy with the results. I smiled and listened carefully to the aftercare instructions, thanked the artist, and went happily on my way.
