Get To Know Me
Laura Supnik

I’ve never really introduced myself to my readers but I can only hope you have a good idea of who I kinda am. So here it is, me introducing myself to you.

Hi, my name is Nour Karouni. I prefer the word “hi” over “hey” and I love analyzing the way people say hello.

I will drink coffee at any temperature: super hot, kinda getting cold. Whatever the temperature is, I don't care as long as I’m having it with good company and great conversation. I will drink coffee anytime of the day, if I ask you to grab coffee with me, I enjoy you.

I don’t like functioning in complete silence. When I get ready for my day, I must have something playing in the background whether it’s a show, podcast, or music. And when I study I need to listen to music.

I prefer my music to be played on my record player, I like flipping the vinyl and listening to that weird popping sound at the end of a side. I love making playlists and then sending them to people that I think would enjoy it.

Dark chocolate is the best chocolate and no one can change my mind.

I love spoiling my family and friends because a smile on their face means the world and more to me.

When I’m upset I like to waste my gas and drive around (oops).

It is very hard for me to open up to people so if I do it means I have confided in you!! I regret confiding in a few but I’m thankful for the ones who care.

I say I like alone time but being left alone for too long is no fun. I love human interaction!!!

I love a funny human, I always want to be around funny humans. If you have me crying or literally on the floor, I love you.

I can go for Chinese food any time of the day, no questions about it.

It’s so hard for me to watch movies unless I’m so interested in the movie because I can’t focus on it for too long. I need to be able to pause and watch later!!

I laugh when I’m nervous so if I’ve laughed at something that shouldn't be laughed at…I’m sorry I have no laugh control.

I literally don’t know how to whisper and I blame my best friend because we're loud together.

I know everyone loves naps but I don’t think I can survive without a daily nap!!

I’ve visited more places outside the country than I have inside the country, and I would like to continue doing that for as long as I live.

If you know me you know that I love talking and I will literally never shut up but even more than I love talking I love listening. And I’d rather listen than talk sometimes because I love staring at people as they share stories, ideas, and passions.

I love a good book. So, send those recommendations, please.

I am so blessed to visit a country yearly that has both beaches and mountains. I’m in awe every single time.

I hate looking up at extremely tall people, I don't know what it is, and you're doing amazing sweetie, but I just can’t strain my neck talking to you or just trying to keep eye contact.

I love dancing even if I look stupid but I really hope I don't look stupid.

World news is so important to me so I love staying caught up, and one day, I hope I could be the one educating you on what’s up with the world as a news anchor ;) #BIIIIGGOALS

I like to smile at babies and when they smile back I get so excited like wow I just connected with a tiny human.

I hope you enjoyed these tiny details about me!! This isn't much but it’s enough for some strangers!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
