Get The 5 Things You Want Most.
(It’s as easy as daydreaming.)
A lot of websites will be misleading, using a compelling headline like that only to bribe you into reading a boring article that gives you no direction. But this is me giving you my own, personal, tried-and-true recipe. (Oh, and I got my 5 things in a month.)
In fact, technically, daydreaming is the real secret to getting the 5 things you want most, but we like to call it something more mature – meditation.
Successful, influential people like Oprah Winfrey, Gisele Bundchen, and The Beatles practice(d) and praise(d) this ancient act.
Will Smith once talked about how there is a redemptive power to making choices rather than thinking you’re at the will of whatever happens in your life. He said:
“You just decide what it’s gonna be, who you’re gonna be, how you’re gonna do it… And then from that point, the universe is gonna get out of your way… You really can make what you want.”
So to say, he is sharing the law of attraction, and how the simple power of conscious thought is enough to let the tide wash up anything you can dream of.
If it seems sort of mystical, and frankly not very believable to you, here is my own personal experience of getting 5 things I desired with a passion, all through meditation.
It all started only one month ago, hanging out with my old best friend, who, since middle school, has turned into somewhat of a hippie. We talked about energy and spirituality, thoughts and meditation, but most importantly she left me with advice that changed my life almost instantly:
“Write down the 5 things you want every single day. It can be anything from world peace, to a new car.”
That one line replayed in my head over and over, so I decided to give it a try – I have always been one for the metaphysical.
I began writing my ‘wants’ down in a journal exactly one month from when I decided to check my progress (what a coincidence.) Of course, I wasn’t perfect, and I missed more than a couple days – but I ended up with about 15 days’ worth of ‘wants.’ Some of my wishes stayed the same every day, others flipped and flopped all over the spectrum, so I totaled out 33 different, individual wants I had written down.
Of these 33 different desires, 5 have already manifested, and in only one month! (Especially given the fact that I was a slacker and forgot to write my list half the time, this is incredible.)
Each day I would write these down, then use an app called Insight Timer (https://insighttimer.com) to help me with a guided meditation. Those next few minutes could consist of whatever I wanted – maybe I wanted a relaxing meditation to help me drift to sleep, maybe I was feeling anxious and wanted to find peace, or just wanted to focus on the present moment. (With Insight Timer you search keywords to really personalize your meditation.)
After a few days, I would catch myself being way too calm about things that had once stressed me out, or staying out of a heated debate that I usually would have love jumping into. – What I’m saying is I was becoming more at peace and craved the drama of everyday life a lot less.
That realization was completely transformative in itself.
Long story short, from that point on I made a conscious effort to think more positively and keep myself in the present moment, which at some point became a subconscious normality, thanks to meditation. I no longer needed to remind myself to be happy – I just was.
It was easier to imagine my life being the dream that I had always hoped for, and it was as if I could literally feel the universe being like, "Aight I gotchu."
Really though, it was a kind of almost transparency that I had never felt before, and let me tell you the effects.
1. I WANT TO TRAVEL.
During this last month I took a last-minute trip to Los Angeles and then headed to Greece, where I am writing from right now.
2. I WANT RECOGNITION BY INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE. (Yes, I got that specific.)
My artwork was posted on Instagram by The Lumineers (3 different times, specifically) and onto an A$AP Rocky account.
3. I WANT TO SELL MY ART.
Each goal just kept leading me closer to the next. The exposure I got from those accounts had my inbox blowing up. Here I am now, chillin', selling my artwork. (Oh, and I might be teaming up with a pet shelter, but that’s want #6, I’ll let you know when it manifests.)
4. I WANT TO DESIGN ALBUM COVERS.
This day I was at lunch with my parents, talking about my future. I stated that I would design album covers and get rich. And they said, “Oh, you will?” It occurred to me then that I had told them what it will be, rather than what I wish it to be or what it might possibly be. (Remember what Will Smith said?)
That very night, I got a long message from a guy I do not know, explaining that he saw my artwork on The Lumineers page, and that he wants me to create his next album cover.
5. I WANT TO GO ON ADVENTURES.
Like I said in the first point, I am writing from Greece. I am living here alone for two weeks on a tiny island called Skopelos. Every day I hop on a bus to a different beach or monastery (wherever it takes me, really) and strangers pick me up off the road (which is completely safe here btw) because it’s too hot to be walking.Oh, and I guess get asked to drinks by strangers working at the café I’m writing at (haha I am embarrassed.)
My Greek first-cousin-once-removed (whom I just met for the first time) was talking to me about this and said that this will be “the first time in my life I am 100% free.” If that isn’t adventure, I don’t know what possibly could be.
So, for the people who need to see to believe, there you go. For those of you whose minds need to see a list to comprehend what you’re being asked (that’s me), here it is, take a screenshot:
1. Write down the 5 things you want most every single day
2. Meditate, either on your own, or I seriously recommend downloading Insight Timer
3. Don’t forget to do numbers 1 and 2
4. Imagine yourself already having the life you dream of. Daydream. Act as if you already have it and go about normal life this way. (For example, would you ask that girl out if you were already the rich, famous, celebrity? Ok, so do it.)
5. Think positively and don’t fluctuate to thoughts of the past or worries of the future. Let yourself appreciate the present moment, because that’s all life ever is, is one big NOW.
6. Watch your life change.
7. BE THANKFUL
I hope to hear of your own success and experiences. Good luck!
