Through life, we hit many difficult areas and we think that there is no way we can come back from them, yet somehow we always do.You probably saw the funeral pictures & program at the top of the page and thought this was going to be sad, but it is not. It's about treasuring those hard times. I gave a speech this past week on setbacks and while doing so I realized that every low point in my life has made me treasure the high points even more. I have gone through family death and sickness and all that it taught me was: yes you can be sad and hurt, but do not dwell too long on it or you will miss the precious moments in life.
A quote that is so common to this, yet so relatable is, “An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backwards. When life is dragging you backwards with difficulties, it means it’s going to launch you into something great. So just focus and keep aiming.” If it seems like life just likes to kick you while you're down, don’t feel like you’re alone because you’re not. Everyone goes through trials that seem like that are going to take years to get through, when in reality it’s just a small thunder cloud hanging over your head. Don’t let that thunder cloud block your eyes from seeing the beauty in this world. Whenever I get really stressed out or just upset, I take some time to sit in my car and stare at the sunset that afternoon, and for some reason, it has always calmed me down and made me recognize the beauty in the mist of my storm.
I have always been told, “God won’t give you something you can’t handle.” and I believe this, but I have a different outlook about it. God wont give you something you can’t handle because he has to handle it with you. You don’t try to do a puzzle with your younger sibling that you know you two are going to end up fighting over, you do the easy ones that you know they can do until they are ready to face that harder puzzle. This is how I see God with us. He slow builds up our “puzzle solving” skills because he cares about us and does not want us to suffer, but instead he wants us to rejoice.
“Get set. GO” is a motto you should live by because when life is dragging you back, you better get ready to go and do great things. Life is difficult and if you haven’t had a setback, then you are doing something wrong because my greatest points in life were preceded by downfall.
