Stop saying “New Year, new me” and coming up with stupid run-of-the-mill New Years resolutions that you will forget about after two months. Each year all over social media we see people saying "New Year, new me," but what does that even mean? I always find people saying "I want to go to the gym" and "I want to eat healthier," but why can't we just be happy with who we are and make realistic goals where we take care of ourselves?
Be Happy
As cliché as this sounds, I think 2016 should be the year everyone focuses more on their mental health. If need be, see a doctor, a counselor, or go on a trip with your friends. Just do things that will make you happy, and don’t care about what other people think or say about it.
Be Confident
You’re great, smart, and beautiful, and you will get that raise or pass that class you’re struggling in. Make this the year you KNOW you can, and will, accomplish anything your heart desires.
Study
Stop napping so much, limit your Netflix binging, and study. You are going to hate it, and you’re going to want to take that glorious nap in your bed after that three hour lecture, but trust me; study now, and you won’t have mounds of homework right before finals.
Pass Your Classes
Make acing your classes the number one priority in your life until summer break. You will thank yourself later, and it will make you feel so good about yourself come summer.
Live One Day At A Time
Live day-by-day. Try not to over schedule yourself and get too stressed out. Just slow down, breathe, and take each day as it comes.
Make Time For Your Friends
Sure, you may think your boyfriend is the bees-knees or that your job/school requires all of your attention, but try to remember your friends who have always been there for you no matter what. Try to make time for them and shoot them a text once and a while or meet up with them for coffee.
Save Your Money
I know we’re all broke college kids but try to think twice before buying that “super cute” sweater at Target. You might need it for gas later on.
