New Year's Resolutions You Should Consider For 2016

As the new year is approaching we are all thinking about the new resolutions we are going to make for our selves. Maybe we'll start working out again, or maybe we'll try to eat out less. Whatever it may be, you should at least make one promise to yourself, that being a New Years Resolution! Here are some New Years Resolutions you can look at to inspire what you'll do this upcoming year.

Getting a Gym Membership

I promise you this, getting a gym membership isn't scary, just go for it! Make time during the week to go to your local gym or your gym on campus and do some basic work outs. For instance, just walking on the treadmill for thirty minutes with a book in hand, or doing some weights to gain that muscle. I'm not saying go crazy at the gym, but do small things that you'll make you feel good about yourself. After a work out from the gym I always feel better about myself, it's important to keep your body active and healthy. Retro Fitness, Planet Fitness and Powerhouse Gym are three options you can go for! So like Shia Labeouf: "DO IT, JUST DO IT. MAKE YOUR DREAMS A REALITY"

Eating Healthier

"Oh no... eating healthy? I don't think I can do it". Well try, my friends! We need to stay healthy and that all stems from eating the right food. Yeah, soda, junk food, chips and chocolate are great, but we don't want to be fatties when we're older! So make a change in your diet for the New Year. Try to eat more salads, and fruit vs. fried or processed food. Taking care of yourself is key and it's not that hard I promise, so put down that bag of chips and pick up some dried fruit instead, it's just as yummy I guarantee it!

Not Eating Out As Much

I know it's incredibly hard to not eat out, we have such awesome places to eat like Chipotle, Applebee's, and all those amazing pizza places. Although you should make it a goal for this year to maybe make food at your house, or you only go out to eat once a week. Think about it, you'll be saving a lot of money and you may even lose some weight! This is going to be hard resolution, but your wallets and tummies will thank you in the long run!

Goals for next semester classes:

This Spring semester you should set some goals for yourself to do better in classes, whether it's studying more, or spending more time in library. We'll all be going back to school feeling refreshed, so with that in mind make some reasonable goals for yourself! I know this spring I'll be trying my best to read more and study as much as possible. It's crucial that we do our very best in school, I mean our parents are paying a fortune for us.

Watch Less Netflix

As college students we're all guilty of watching Netflix instead of studying or going to class. We can't help ourselves sometimes. As a goal for the new year you should take a step back from your laptop or TV, and focus on school. I know it's hard thinking about not binge watching Netflix, but in the long run you'll be happy you studied for that exam instead of watching "Gossip Girl." Enjoy your Netflix time over winter break, but when you go back to school you should buckle down and focus. This is one goal I need to set for myself, because God only knows I watch too much of it.

So make sure you have your list of resolutions for the year 2016! It's really important to push yourself and actually achieve one resolution for the New Year. Whether it's something from this list or something you came up with yourself, as Shia Labeouf would say "JUST DO IT, MAKE YOUR DREAMS A REALITY."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
